Playak News Flash - December 13, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Evan Garcia Getting silly in Chile
Evan Garcia - So after arriving in Santiago I rallied directly to Pucon, like always. When I here nobody was around??? Then all the bitches showed up and were ready to Rally. My first day back I ran Todo Nevado with Rodrigo, Erik, and Ian...setting the pace for the trip we have followed suit with 3 Demshitz's drop runs, 2 Middle Palguins, Puesco, Tres Saltos, and an unbelievable stout on the Carhuello yesterday.
Team LiquidLogic Fall Chillout at Soca
Team LiquidLogic - In October me and some friend had an aewsome Fall chillout weekend in Slovenia on the river Soca. It's mostly easy whitewater (II-IV) surrounded by beautiful landscape. A perfect place to spent the last days of kayaking for this year. So enjoy the video.
Nick Troutman Taking my Mom down the Ottawa in the Duo: video
Nick Troutman - My mom is one of the main reasons for the spark of love for nature and the river. She would take me down to check out the whitewater as long as I can remember. So I thought it was about time to return the favour and take her down the river in true kayaker fashion. What better way to take a newbie paddler than in the Dynamic Duo.
Ben Jackson Antarctica – 30 days in
Ben Jackson - It's been busy past month for me down here at the bottom of the world. For a start we have covered over 7000km in the Southern Ocean… Travelling on a ship doesn't always live up to the romantic ideas you dream up on solid ground. Especially when you're travelling on a shallow draft ship that loves to roll. 100km/hr winds and 11m seas will quickly dowse many of those early daydreams of the open seas.
Atlantic Paddle Surfing 2-4' ft fun clean waves.. '' grey and cold''
Atlantic Paddle Surfing - We had some fun surf today as the winds went from NNE to NW in the middle of our session. Booties, gloves and hoods were part of the equipment needed today. The water dropped to 53*f and air temp at 50*f . Three hours of pure paddle Stoke.. Jamie, Scott, Pat L. and I were out for while joined by Seppe and Heather.. Scott got some fun waves, and using the paddle to crank some turns. Pat scored one of the larger set waves with a 50 -60 yard right, (rare for here).
Fat Paddler Video Classics: Paddle to the Sea (Canada, 1966)
Fat Paddler - In this day of digital content where a days paddle can be online to share within hours or even minutes, it's easy to forget that great paddling movies were made way before digital video cameras and iPhones existed. I was trawling the web looking for content when I came across this amazing little film made in Canada way back in 1966, before I was even a twinkle in my Daddy's eye!
Starboard Brian Szymanski's Shaper Profile
Starboard - Why you should be looking at Brian Szymanski's Racing Shapes: A broad thinker who studies the intersection of hydrodynamics, competitive users and soulful designs, Brian Szymanski has a talent for bridging disciplines to construct a beautifully shaped board that's durable, high quality and will keep you winning races for years.
Adventurous Experiences Corporate Xmas Sea Kayak Trip
Adventurous Experiences - This afternoon's Corporate Sea Kayak Trip ran from Laxey beach, sheltered from the NW wind, and in bright sunshine!
Wilderness Systems What time is it? Its time for some Snowyaking!
Wilderness Systems - We got dumped on pretty good today so The Daughter Unit and I decided it was time to load up the ol' 9.5 and find us a hill. We did. This one is about 5 miles from our house and wasn't too crowded because we didn't get there until about 9:45 pm or so. But get there we did... And did we have fun.
