Jackson Kayak EJ's Follow up from Olympic Trials, Freestyle, Extreme Racing, and the Future….
Jackson Kayak - Training for two weeks in Charlotte for Olympic Trials with my new slalom boat, my kids, and the slalom racers was an awesome experience. Dash Point Pirate - Unlike typical production SUPs, which are a fiberglass layup over foam core, this board is hollow. Freya Hoffmeister - I forgot to mention that last night my Navy officers really got stuck in the sand! But instead of pushing, they released some air out of the tires, and the driver was slowly digging it out – even without the two guys pushing. This morning, I saw them doing the same *before* they came down the beach! Clever…but I can't tell if they made it out safely, as I was afloat.

NOC Shootout- Rockstar takes the Podium ~ Standing Up Before Standup

Playak News Flash - April 26, 2012
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Jackson Kayak NOC Shootout- Rockstar takes the Podium
Jackson Kayak - The 'Fun Tour' is now fully underway. This past weekend we hit the Nantahala Outdoor Center for the NOC Shootout. The Nantahala is a South East classic and is the host location for the upcoming World Cup Final and the 2013 World Championships.
SUP Magazine Standing Up Before Standup
SUP Magazine - The history of standup paddling is often attributed to ocean athletes like Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama. Fair enough. These two revolutionary surfers helped create a booming industry. But the evolution has been on for years in other paddlesports realms. Here's a look at three athletes who've left their mark on the standup game, helping to broaden the appeal of 'SUP' without even really trying. – Kurt Mullen
Jackson Kayak Jackson Kayak Zen Review by California Canoe and Kayak Staff!
Jackson Kayak - The Zen is the new river runner from the great people at Jackson Kayaks. It is a moderate volume boat that comes in three different sizes (55,65,75), with a planing hull and relatively soft edges. It is going to be the backbone of our instructional fleet this year so I took it out on the class II/III section of the South Fork American River to see how the boat performed. So this review is from the perspective of how the boat will do for beginners (though it is also a viable choice for experienced paddlers looking for a general river runner).
Press Releases Kokatat: Kokatat Outfits Expedition Paddling Around Britain
Press Releases - The GB360 Midlifekayak expedition sets off to circumnavigate mainland Britain by kayak on April 29th from the Cornwall coast in the South West of England. English paddlers Andy Mullins, Geoff Cater and Mike Greenslade will be equipped with Kokatat GORE-TEX® dry suits, PFDs (personal flotation devices) and accessories to help keep them dry, safe and comfortable on their 2,500-mile journey.
First Ascent Chris Korbulic Captures Powerful Imagery from the Heart of Africa
First Ascent - Chris Korbulic recently returned from the heart of Africa while filming for the next season of Kaiak with First Ascent athlete Ben Stookesberry. This is his gallery of his most powerful images from the expedition.
Trent Thibodeaux Biss-Stick Tuna Review
Trent Thibodeaux - Bliss-Stick got it right, yet again with another sick design…The TUNA. The names derives from the river Kiatuna from which the design was created and tested. It is also the maori name for eel, hence the cool graphics on the side of the boat.
Exploring Elements Event: Nwcc 2012 Efl Race Day
Exploring Elements - I made the big trip up from Cali back to the NW in order to attend one of the most fun local kayak gatherings of the year, the Northwest Creek Comp. This is a 2 day event with a different race each day. On Saturday everyone races on the gorge section of the East Fork of the Lewis ...
worldkayak blogs Jackson Fun Runner in the Grand Canyon
worldkayak blogs - I got invited to go on an18 day trip down the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River, 290 miles of mostly flat boiley water with lots of huge rapids. I've taken a Jackson Superstar and Rockstar down the Nile and Zambezi so I know how much fun a small boat can be on big water but also on the Zambezi the Rockstar was a little short for long flat sections.
Am. Whitewater Donations for Friendsville River Access Exceed $22,000!
Am. Whitewater - Mark Singleton, American Whitewater Executive Director, recently forwarded a check to the Town of Friendsville, MD for just over $3000, the amount raised on the AW Web Site this past month. The town, which is the takeout for the Upper Youghiogheny River, is working ...
Jackson Kayak First Trip in the Coosa
Jackson Kayak - The weather in the Northeast has been unseasonably warm this past week, with temperatures in the 70s and even breaking into the 80s. On Friday afternoon I got out of work a few hours early and took my new Jackson Kayak "Coosa" out to a local pond for its maiden voyage. I picked up the Coosa this winter specifically for this purpose. Last year I did not fish fresh water as much as I would have liked, since I rig my kayak very differently for stripers then for chasing bass in ponds. Couple this with the fact that my old kayak was quite large and cumbersome – it made quick trips for an hour or two more work than fun.
Wilderness Systems Big Reds in Virginia
Wilderness Systems - I received a text from a buddy who said I should be fishing the Eastern Shore VA, so I loaded up with hopes of big Reds. I have been through this before and knew when in search of big fish the payoff can takes weeks or even years before you get your trophy.

Vancouver Island ~ We Are Family - Kokatahi River, New Zealand

Playak News Flash - April 24, 2012
The world's latest paddling headlines.
WRSI Vancouver Island
WRSI - Vancouver island is a kayakers dream. The island has it all, steep creeks, monsterous drops, clean water falls and boulder gardens are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to describing the rivers in this area. Along with the characters of these rivers, the insane concentration of rivers ...
Jordan Searle We Are Family - Kokatahi River, New Zealand
Jordan Searle - Its hard to keep thinking of things to write about this river. I usually get to run it 3 or more times a season, over the past 5 years... you get the picture. This day however we thought we had been skunked. A massive crew came together on a sunny Hokitika morning, not a cloud in the sky.
worldkayak blogs Two EPIC weeks surfing one of my favorites… BUSEATER!
worldkayak blogs - So it all started with a phone call…. "Nick, dude, get up here now, Bussy is in and it is 80 degrees outside!" This call came from my best friend Joel Kowalski up in Beachburg. He lives on the Ottawa River and got me started in kayaking 10 years ago. Now you have to understand Joel usually calls me and tells me I should be up on the Ottawa for some spring time surfing. Though this call usually comes in May not March, and it is usually never followed with 80 degree weather.
Sweet Live back home!
Sweet - It has been great to go back home! I got to see so many friends that I haven't seen in so much time… rest a bit after so many waterfalls and not having a bed for so many months…After spent sometime with my family in Girona I moved to sort. We had a great week of good paddling on the upper Noguera & Palomeras creek, with good weather and the water raising up. The cold has come back and stopped everything….
Mike Dawson London Town
Mike Dawson - I've arrived and been in London for just over a week. It seems as though I have just left London in October & I am already back here. I left NZ on Singapore Airlines direct into Heathrow for 3 weeks of epic-ness here on the Olympic Course. First up the British are having their own Olympic Se...
Sweet Misson Impossible- Patagonia edition
Sweet - Last year I spent the majority of my 3 months stay in Chile in Patagonia, and a considerable amount of that south of the Futaleufu. This river is for most regarded as "south", and we do not see a lot of the paddlers of the north making the trip. And if so, the Futaleufu is normally just the training ground for groups taking on the famous Rio Baker, ....
SUP Connect Build Your Open Ocean Endurance
SUP Connect - Anytime you venture into the ocean, your open ocean endurance is not something to take for granted. It is a required physical and mental element that all water sport enthusiasts must have...
SeaKayakPhoto.com But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
SeaKayakPhoto.com -  When HMS Defender past the wind got up and we soon sped past the Little Cumbrae lighthouse but the Drumchapel and Clydebank Club had already disappeared over the horizon. The wind strengthened off Gull Point and the water began to get a little livelier...
