Since January I have been fortunate enough to paddle many new places with a whole lot of great people. After getting another round in on the Rio Manso just south of Barriloche, we decided it was time to head home. The whole crew had planned to fly out with in the next week and we needed to organize... Kern River Festival and Gold Medal Camp. Jackson Kayak - It has been an awesome 2 weeks in Kernville, California, with sunny weather and rising water. I attended the Gold Medal Camp for a second year in a row to refresh my paddling skills before the season started. One major disadvantage of a hollow board is that if there is a leak, water will accumulate inside. Since the wood inside the board will be left unsealed, the strips will warp if they get wet. Navy Officers Stuck in the Sand Freya Hoffmeister - I forgot to mention that last night my Navy officers really got stuck in the sand! But instead of pushing, they released some air out of the tires, and the driver was slowly digging it out – even without the two guys pushing. This morning, I saw them doing the same *before* they came down the beach! Clever…but I can't tell if they made it out safely, as I was afloat.

Whitewater - Mark Singleton, American Whitewater Executive Director, recently forwarded a check to the Town of Friendsville, MD for just over $3000, the amount raised on the AW Web Site this past month. The town, which is the takeout for the Upper Youghiogheny River, is working ... First Trip in the Coosa Jackson Kayak - The weather in the Northeast has been unseasonably warm this past week, with temperatures in the 70s and even breaking into the 80s. On Friday afternoon I got out of work a few hours early and took my new Jackson Kayak "Coosa" out to a local pond for its maiden voyage. I picked up the Coosa this winter specifically for this purpose. Last year I did not fish fresh water as much as I would have liked, since I rig my kayak very differently for stripers then for chasing bass in ponds. Couple this with the fact that my old kayak was quite large and cumbersome – it made quick trips for an hour or two more work than fun. Big Reds in Virginia Wilderness Systems - I received a text from a buddy who said I should be fishing the Eastern Shore VA, so I loaded up with hopes of big Reds. I have been through this before and knew when in search of big fish the payoff can takes weeks or even years before you get your trophy.

News Watch Headlines Vancouver Island WRSI - Vancouver island is a kayakers dream. The island has it all, steep creeks, monsterous drops, clean water falls and boulder gardens are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to describing the rivers in this area. Along with the characters of these rivers, the insane concentration of rivers ... We Are Family - Kokatahi River, New Zealand Jordan Searle - Its hard to keep thinking of things to write about this river. I usually get to run it 3 or more times a season, over the past 5 years... you get the picture. This day however we thought we had been skunked. A massive crew came together on a sunny Hokitika morning, not a cloud in the sky. Two EPIC weeks surfing one of my favorites… BUSEATER! worldkayak blogs - So it all started with a phone call…. "Nick, dude, get up here now, Bussy is in and it is 80 degrees outside!" This call came from my best friend Joel Kowalski up in Beachburg. He lives on the Ottawa River and got me started in kayaking 10 years ago. Now you have to understand Joel usually calls me and tells me I should be up on the Ottawa for some spring time surfing. Though this call usually comes in May not March, and it is usually never followed with 80 degree weather. Live back home! Sweet - It has been great to go back home! I got to see so many friends that I haven't seen in so much time… rest a bit after so many waterfalls and not having a bed for so many months…After spent sometime with my family in Girona I moved to sort. We had a great week of good paddling on the upper Noguera & Palomeras creek, with good weather and the water raising up. The cold has come back and stopped everything…. London Town Mike Dawson - I've arrived and been in London for just over a week. It seems as though I have just left London in October & I am already back here. I left NZ on Singapore Airlines direct into Heathrow for 3 weeks of epic-ness here on the Olympic Course. First up the British are having their own Olympic Se... Misson Impossible- Patagonia edition Sweet - Last year I spent the majority of my 3 months stay in Chile in Patagonia, and a considerable amount of that south of the Futaleufu. This river is for most regarded as "south", and we do not see a lot of the paddlers of the north making the trip. And if so, the Futaleufu is normally just the training ground for groups taking on the famous Rio Baker, .... Build Your Open Ocean Endurance SUP Connect - Anytime you venture into the ocean, your open ocean endurance is not something to take for granted. It is a required physical and mental element that all water sport enthusiasts must have... But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. SeaKayakPhoto.com -  When HMS Defender past the wind got up and we soon sped past the Little Cumbrae lighthouse but the Drumchapel and Clydebank Club had already disappeared over the horizon. The wind strengthened off Gull Point and the water began to get a little livelier...
