News Watch Why Everyone Should Kayak Dagger Blogs (Tuesday 24th) *** - Recently I have been asked by a number of people why I kayak. More specifically, what exactly is it about kayaking that makes it so special that I am willing to mold my life around it. After fielding this question a number of times, Dane Goes Absolutely Huge in Canada Immersion Research (Tuesday 24th) *** - The grand prix was the most intense and epic event i have ever done. 2 weeks traveling around Quebec with 25 of the best paddlers competing in some of the scariest whitewater. The first event was a big trick competition on Gladiator wave on the Ottawa river. It was a little low so it had a huge foampile. And for those who don't know about 500 feet downstream of the wave is a river wide pourover that you never want to go in. It was a long and tiring day but no one went in the pourover and lots of people got big tricks. Ben Marr took 1st, i got 2nd and Rush Sturges got 3rd. Kadaň, Plattling, Graz adidas Sickline (Thursday 26th) *** - Finally I'm back home after more than a week tripping around spots and competitions. My past 3 weeks were a little exhausting because I became pretty sick. My doctor gave me some antibiotics to take for 7 days but I felt like I had to train so I didn't rest at all, which definitely was a mistake because my arm started to hurt as well (infected ligaments). Whitewater Grand Prix! Dagger Blogs (Thursday 26th) *** - The Whitewater Grand Prix was far and away one of the most impressive whitewater competitions ever to happen. It has raised the bar for whitewater competitions and is a true testament to Whitewater Kayaking's continued progression. With the six stages of the event being of varied disciplines and ... Grand Prix Wrap Up Level 6 (Saturday 21st) ** - Grand Prix 2011. The Grand Prix wrapped up in a few choice words: Humbling. Inspirational. Fresh. It was a great experience to paddle with all the athletes at the Grand Prix. Learning from each individuals unique racing & freeride styles. All the athletes got along well and by the end we were a big family… living out of vans and hotels… in northern quebec… doing what we love everyday. Cold Norway Sweet (Tuesday 24th) ** - This time of year use to be the real highlight of the season with warm weather and rivers filled up with water. However, this winter didn't leave much snow in the mountains. This fact, combined with cold weather gives us a real challenge to find rivers to run at the moment. The last days we had to run the low volume sections, which we usually run late, late season. Cannot complain, these sections are really some true gems! Milner Mile on the Snake River! Jackson Kayak (Tuesday 24th) ** - The Milner Mile on the Snake River is located in-between Burley and Twin Falls, ID.  The canyon is tight and constricted while dropping 100 feet in a mile.  The steep gradient and large volume of water creates huge holes, massive waves, and surging eddies.  Many people consider the Milner Mile to be the largest size whitewater in the Continental U.S. Olympic Whitewater Course for 2012 Games in London ... Paddling Life (Saturday 21st) ** - Allo, Gubnah! Ok, so my English accent needs work, but that's OK; we're still more than a year out from the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Games in London. The good news for paddle sports enthusiasts is that they don't have to wait that long to take a run down the official Olympic whitewater course. Middle Sermenza on demob Friday Gene17 (Sunday 22nd) ** - A reasonable flow from the dam at Rima, meant we could get a run on the Middle Sermenza with it's several canyons and great steep creek boat moves. Rain… Finally! Team Pyranha (Tuesday 24th) ** - Any boaters on this side of the pond will have noticed that the last few months have been exceptionally poor for getting out boating. Last weekend I'd all but given up hope – not even checked the forecast for rain – but took boats along to help out with safety at a swimming event on Saturday in the Lake District. We kicked off the trip by taking the new Loki out for a spin on the local rafting run.

News Watch Photo of the Day-Werner Team paddler Adriene Levknecht at "Flying Squirrel." Werner (Saturday 14th) **** -  We have certainly seen Adriene on the Werner Paddles blog before, no? Really?  Okay if not check out the November post talking about her 3rd win in a row at the annual Green River Race in Asheville NC.  Adriene has risen above being a great female boater, she is hands down one of the most talented white water boaters in the world period.  Check her out in today's "Photo of the Day," on her favorite river, the Green Narrows. There are several lines through "Pencil Sharpener" the set up rapid for the "Notch" lead in to the world famous "Gorilla."  The "Flying Squirrel" is the fastest line but the hardest.  Adriene is high and dry, coming in hot, and ready to stomp her landing and head for the "Notch... Red Bull Canal Crashers Team Pyranha (Monday 16th) *** - Well I've been here in Richmond, VA all weekend competing at the annual Dominion River Rock Festival and I don't even know where to start. ... It was my first time going off of a ramp but I attempted some different moves and ended up in sixth. You can check out the rest of the results ... Did I mention Red Bull knows how to put themselves out there? U to the T Wavesport Blogs (Thursday 19th) *** - After Reno we paddled Sierra City to Downiville and Pauley Creek. Then headed out to Riverdale, UT to go surf a wave. The level was around 3,400 cfs and rising while we were there. Pretty darn fun wave to surf that had these crazy boils that came through the wave that made it interesting ... Austria so far... Seth Ashworth (Monday 16th) ** - So two weeks ago I packed up all of my worldly goods (which turns out is not that much stuff really) and made the move over to Austria. Over the last ten days I have been training for my Austrian Raft Guide License and paddling a bit in-between. I've been doing training through Area 47, and ... Whitewater Grand Prix: Freestyle Jackson Kayak (Sunday 15th) ** - Well we had our freestyle event on a new set of waves here in quebec, called 'Pillars.' It is a sweet set of two waves just under a train bridge. This made is easy for spectators to come and watch the show. It was impressive to see the air being thrown and number of moves. Alpine Sprint, boulder boofin' fun Gene17 (Monday 16th) ** - Alpine Sprint, on the Upper Sesia, boulder boofin' fun, a fitting end to a week in Piemonte on a Steep Creeking trip and site of the forthcoming Valsesia River Festival Mild rain over night, brought the Sesia up to a medium level, with the Alpine Sprint section, being a continuous boulder garden Class IV run. Jackson Kayak (Sunday 15th) ** - Grand Prix Final Results Whitewater Grand Prix World Champion: Dane Jackson (USA) 112.5 pts Liquid Fusion Kayaking: Low Water Run on the Eel PaddleBlogs (Thursday 19th) ** - The To-Do list is HUGE at the moment as we get ready for Fort Bragg and Mendocino's summer visitors. But after spending a rainy Monday in the office, we had to get out and paddle... . Preparing for the World Championships adidas Sickline (Wednesday 18th) ** - By Nina Halasova. The World Champs are slowly coming! We still have a little bit than one month for our preparations. We are training for this big event the whole season, which we started quite early by training twice a day. It is hard to stay motivated so you need to change places quite often. We spent a few weeks in Plattling, where the World Champs will take part. Now we train at home in our local playspot in Cunovo. Idaho River Explosion - Year 2 Dagger Blogs (Wednesday 18th) ** - Simply put, Idaho whitewater is famed for being big.  Last year, the kayaking world witnessed the explosion of water down the North Fork of the Payette and created one of the largest and most technical runs in the World.   12 Cumecs at Cardiff worldkayak blogs (Friday 20th) ** - Cardiff International White Water Centre, located in Cardiff Bay is one heck of a cool place. I mean, how many whitewater courses can you visit that have a travelator for a start. I've paddled CIWW many times since it opened but I've never before been able to make a big release night (12 cumecs). Finally, last Saturday evening, I was lucky enough to get out there with Chris C., Lowri and Fran as the pumps were set to max. Let the party start…yehaw! Whitewater Grand Prix- Big Water Boatercross on The Rouge River Bliss-Stick US (Monday 16th) ** - Hella big water!! Reno! and the Creeks that Followed Jackson Kayak (Wednesday 18th) * - Flew out a full week early this year to train at the Reno Whitewater Park in hopes I could get as good at combo's as Stephen Carbon Rockstar video by the time of the Festival.  In that respect I failed, his 1500 easily beat my 950 and I ended up 4th in the comp.  On the other hand I got a 950 on a flushy wave feature, threw several combos, and learned to throw a lot more in practice.   Paddle Assembly, Production Precision ... CORE Paddles (Wednesday 18th) * - So after about 6 months of 10 - 12 hour work days, 6 days a week and waking up stressed at 2 am in the morning pretty consistently... we are finally going to be shipping paddles this week.Albeit much of the production start up stress was self induced. Thunderball Revival - the NRS HydroSkin Paddle Jacket Mark Sundin (Friday 13th) * - Remember the Bond flick Thunderball, where the greatest Bond of them all, Sean Connery, spear-gunned the bad dudes in his full zipper wetsuit, with Claudine Auger hanging off his left hip?
