Cruising the Big Missouri River Canoe Kayak - Join the six percent club! Canoe the last free flowing wild stretch of the Big Muddy. Civilization has mercifully bypassed and spared 160 miles of this wilderness waterway on its sinuous course across Montana. As I floated down the remaining un fettered "six percent" of the mighty Missouri past mild rapids, gravel and mud bars, and massive sandstone cliffs. the sheer desolation of the badlands caused me to marvel at the gumption of the first explorers. Hap Wilson – the paddler who ensured that Temagami region did not lose its wilderness Canoe Kayak - As paddlers, river and ocean lovers we need to have so much passion for these water wonders that we must fight to save it. A canoeist Hap Wilson did exactly that and saved the Temagami region from losing it's wilderness. He is a paddler that should inspire paddle community to act to conserve the wilderness. Make most of Free entry to Canada's National Parks through Discovery Pass Traversing - To celebrate Canada's 150th, Parks Canada gave everyone a pretty cool gift. Simply head over to their website to order a free 'Discovery Pass' which will let you enter any of their 46 national parks, 171 national historic sites, four marine conservation areas, one national urban park and eight historic canals. It seems everyone we chat with has heard about the Discovery Pass, however there are two important things that many people keep getting wrong about the free pass… Last tournament of the year 11/19/16 Jackson Kayak - One of my favorite tournaments to fish is the Where Y'at which is hosted by my local club Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club. North Korea travels with SUP surfing in the Korean peninsula SUP International - Sarah Hebert travels to North Korea and goes to score waves at the east coast of Korean Peninsula. North Korea has a lot to offer surfers and Stand Up Paddlers with water sports opportunities so it is good that now the country has opened the doors for visitors to explore the place. Find out about the country and its water sports scene here. The Fall Transition Jackson Kayak - This year in Iowa we were blessed with the longest recorded growing season! That means the kayak fishing season was close to 3 weeks longer than normal! It was enough time to get out and target Largemouth Bass via kayak before the freeze. Chris Bertish Sets New SUP World Record SUP Connect - On Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at approximately 7:50AM PST Chris Bertish, internationally acclaimed Speaker, Big Wave Surfer and Guinness SUP World Record Holder, set a new world record, becoming the first person to paddle across 300-miles of open ocean, unsupported and unassisted. Izzi Gomez is your 2016 Stand Up Paddlesurfing World Champion Waterman League - It's hard to believe that Izzi Gomez (Starboard) has only just turned 17 years old, yet has a list of accomplishments that even someone nearing the end of their career would be proud of! Since capturing her first World Title back in 2014, Izzi has continued to lead the charge in the women's side of Stand Up Paddlesurfing, helping to set the standard for performance surfing for the girls that has been evolving at a staggering rate. Top 10 paddles of 2016 - #6 Tony Paradise - Counting down my top ten paddles and I find the first kayak camp trip, but not the last, on the top 10 list. On the weekend of July 9th and 10th the kayak club had its introduction to kayak camping trip. This year the guys organizing it went further afield from the usual place and decided on Great Colinet Island. We met at the gas station on the Trans Canada Highway and convoyed down to Admirals Beach in St. Mary's Bay. We hovered while some of the tardy finished loading their kayaks. Christmas on the Concord Trash Paddler - It was sunshine and a very decent amount of open water this paddler received for Christmas.  Aside from the iced-over approach to the Egg Rock inscription, the main channels of the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord Rivers were running free. For me, the best part of realizing that I was going to spend this fall back home was the expectation of this wet weather. Top 10 paddles of 2016 - #7 Tony Paradise - On Christmas morning the countdown continues with a short post on a paddle Cathy, Gary and I did on November 11th from Tors Cove to LaManche return. Normally we get 19 - 20 kms by handrailing the shoreline but on that day it was rough and we had to stay off shore due to the conditions making only 14 kms. There are days when I enjoy a calm water paddle and there are days I like to get my hands dirty so-to-speak. This was one of those days.
