News Watch Headlines Sickline Race 2012 Jackson Kayak - Well, the 2012 Sickline extreme World Championships has come and gone. EJ, Dane and I all flew over to race at what I consider the hardest creek race ever. How Do You Work These Things? Sea Kayak Stonington - Last weekend Todd Wright came to Old Quarry with some students from St. Michaels College in Vermont, where he's the Director of the Wilderness Program. On Saturday I joined them for a paddle out to Gooseberry Island. The students had varying levels of experience. The Rogue Hits The Grand Canyon Jackson Kayak - The last days on the river were fantastic, even though there weren't rapids like day 4. We were just living our nomadic life, moving downstream, taking in the beauty of the canyon. Discussing our plans to return to this awesomeness next year. Two Festivals, Three Sports and One Hell of a Time! Dagger Blogs - Last month I was lucky enough to attend two awesome whitewater festivals, Gauley Fest on the East Coast and Feather Fest on the West Coast. As expected, both festivals delivered with amazing rivers, great friends and fun dose of debauchery. And as much as I love whitewater kayaking, Level Six Rain Jackets Just Liquid - Who better to trust for rain gear than a company that specializes in technical clothing for kayakers. Wavesport Recon unsponsored - I travelled just under two hours North for the official opening of North East Kayaks and Paddles (more on that in another post). Tom from Wavesport was there with one of the handful of final prototype Wavesport Recons currently in existence. Kiwis take surprise win in Slalom at Pre-Worlds International Rafting Federation - The sun shone again on more exciting competition and a Kiwi crew came out on top. That was the story as the Pre-Worlds (and NZ White Water Rafting National Championships) moved over to the Tarawera River, in the Bay of Plenty, for the second day of competition. Ska Lake Chatuge Jackson Kayak - 25 anglers, mostly sporting Jackson boats, took the field at the SKA 2012 Championship on Lake Chatuge, GA under heavy winds and stormy skies. The two day event was the culmination of a six event season across Georgia and Alabama with a brand new Cuda 14 and the respect that comes along with the Angler Of the Year Title on the line. Blue Skies KC Kayaks - I snaked down the narrow road toward what Google Maps told me was a small kayak launch, brush clawing and scraping the side of my vehicle. Midweek Hrbt Report Angling Addict - Fishermen always have theories. And the more you fish, the theories evolve. As night time schoolie striper fishing around the bridges of the Tidewater area gets hot, anglers scramble to formulate or confirm their hypothesis especially when the season is open. Pen-Y-Parc Anglesey Stick - A slightly perverse trip in terms of tidal planning, as you paddle out of the estuary on the flood, and back in against the ebb - but when you only have a couple of hours to spare this trip is a good way to see a quieter part of the Anglesey shoreline.
