Animus River is gold colour due to toxic stuff in it Kayak Yak - This is how Animus River looks, the reason the river is full of toxic waste water containing high levels of lead, arsenic, cadmium, and aluminum. The reason is contamination from leakage from Gold King Mine. The repercussions, loss of business for outfitters in Durango as Animus river is closed for water sport activities. The bad news is the sludge is making its way towards the Colorado River. This is really horrible news.
