Mike Dawson Mike Dawson: Epic Day 3. Upper Hokitiki
The Hokitika is one of the epic trips on the coast, that I have been wanting to get on since I was a little tacker paddling a FJ2 around the top wave at the wairoa. Today we hit it up. Dando flew us (Jordan, Brad, Dyl, Sam, Kev, Kieth, and me) up into the classic section which had super amazing gorges and some chunky rapids. We charged hard and made it into hoki in time for fish and chips on the beach!

playak.net playak.net: Crossing The Indian Ocean
I have been sailing virtually in The Vendee globe along with about 230,000 other sailors that don't have an Open 60. The race is going really good and I am a few days west of the Kerguelen Islands. These are about half way between Africa and Australia.

KayakQuixotica KayakQuixotica: Inside Your View
One day I was out on the ocean, somewhat early in my paddling life. The waves were big, the sky dark and the water cold and black. It was a stormy, windy, rainy, day. Conditions were going down but not desperate by any means. Out of the blue I had a thought blast through my head like sudden explosion; I just couldn't "quit"!

SeaKayakPhoto.com SeaKayakPhoto.com: Paddling With Planets.
We launched from the shingle beach at Dunure just as a pink glow appeared behind the cold snowy ridges of Arran. Although the sun had set 15 minutes before, the summit ridge of Goat fell was still catching rays from below the horizon.
