We dropped into the upper drops. At this level, the upper drops have some very sticky holes, so be forewarned, hit your boof.

There is tons of great whitewater in there as well. I have a full segment of pretty much all the goods in there, in the new "Cali Love Tour" video.

Our first week was awesome, every river new to us, the cold ice melt waters providing the perfect wake up each morning, and the amazing drops, slides and chutes providing more than enough fun for us.

CKS Squad CKS Squad: Quad Crown
It had been 7 hours since we first put on the Upper East but we only had one creek left so I wasn't about to back down. At the take out of Oh Be J, I checked my watch and it had taken us a full 10 hours to complete the Quad Crown. Four creeks in one day is exhausting, but well worth it.

CKS Squad CKS Squad: Vertical Challenge
Foremost, the Vertical Challenge is a fund raiser for First Descents, which is a kayaking camp for young adults with cancer. During 32 days the event encourages teams of 5 to log the most vertical feet on the river while trying to raise money for First Descents.

This was the second competition, which counts as team trials to make the team, which will go to Thun. So after two wins, I just need to do good at the third competition coming up in two weeks and we will see what will happen.

PeakUK PeakUK: 2009 Slalom European Championships
It was the first major international slalom event in Britain since the 1995 World Championships and the first ever on the recently improved course- what an event! The course was dressed with banners and signs befitting of an Olympic venue.

Stand-up paddle surfboards had a big presence this year. Lately I've seen more people trying this in the Sound. I couldn't resist trying it. Compared to sitting in a kayak, it presents a bigger challenge to your sense of balance and gives your legs a workout.

The "wind against current" phenomenon would steepen the waves in Rosario Strait and stir up reflecting waves off the cliffs on the south end of Lopez Island.
