The Teva Mountain Games is one of the biggest weekends of the whole Rodeo Tour, this is because it has a ton of different events, and it also has one of the largest cash purses of the whole year, bringing Pro kayakers from around the world.

The good weather meant that a decent-sized crowd stuck around to watch a rematch of last year's final, Viking vs. Meridian. Despite some promising early attacks from Viking, Meridian struck first on the break. It took a change of approach from Viking to get an equalizer, more direct runs into the zone and far more clinical finishing.

The 8-Ball race is like no other. It is a boater-cross where you have 4-8 boaters racing down a course. It is full body contact, only rules are you can't take your hand off your paddle or hit people in the face, other than that pretty much everything goes.

Day One of the Teva Mountain Games is always on Homestake Creek. Though it is a short race it drops 400 feet per mile in one small section, full of fun spots to pin and get spun out.

It had a nice wooden frame, a canvas or fabric skin, and a nice bright orange spray skirt which was obviously a retrofit. All of the rest of the stuff looked original including the long, rather unwieldy looking paddles.
