What an exciting two weeks! The wave was not easy, as it kept changing from session to session. Sometimes nice and steep with a good foam pile, sometimes flat without any speed and hard to stick moves. I definitely had some ups and downs in training sessions, but on overall felt pretty good about my paddling, as I was fairly consistent all the time.

Yesterday was a very fitting finals, and one to be remembered. Thousands of spectators, cheering loudly, stopping on the stands, a giant TV screen showing our rides as we went, Arndt Schaeflein on announcing and the music blaring.The energy was incredible.

One of them especially stood out of the crew: Markus Hummel. With 193.333 points during his final run of the C1 group, he secured his fourth place.

That's right paddlers in Europe… I've just bought my ticket to Germany to attend Kanumesse (Sept 17th-19th) - Europe's no. 1 paddle sports retailer convention! I'll be coming along as a representative for Riot Kayaks, to help with tech specs on the various designs etc. But what get's me excited is the slide show/video presentation that I'll be doing at the final party on the evening of Saturday the 19th.

We saw him going over the lip and down….at first it looked like a perfect line, though, his boat kept rotating forward and we saw him disappearing in the mist. We waited those long seconds until we saw his boat coming out, and his paddle, but no signals of him. I started paddling hard to the waterfall and gigo went for the boat, realizing that Thorpie was still there unconscious.

Thun was the host for the 2009 ICF freestyle world Championships a vibrant town in the heart of the Swiss mountains. The event had a great atmosphere with spectators arriving to watch the worlds best preform at one of the biggest Championships held to date, with more nations entering than ever before including Nepal and Uganda.

These waves are a little temperamental in terms of level as they need a lot of water and when that happens the road down the side of the river tends to flood, although it does drop very quickly once the rain stops so you shouldn't be stuck for too long.
