Dave Hoffman Dave Hoffman: Experiencing Metlako Falls – My First 90 ft. Waterfall
Metlako is a perfectly shaped waterfall. A gently sloping slide launches down into a deep pool. There is no entrance move to make, there is no exit to navigate, no cross-currents pushing sideways, nothing but a beautiful freefall to the deep pool below. What holds me back is the same thing that inspires others to kayak it – Metlako is a huge waterfall.
Wavesport Blogs Wavesport Blogs: Great Fall in New England
There are so many amazing rivers in New England it's so hard to choose which to paddle when so many are running at the same time.
DeRiemer Adventure Kayaking DeRiemer Adventure Kayaking: Guest Post- Idaho Whitewater First Timer
The first few days were spent warming up on the South Fork with runs on the staircase section and the canyon section. From fun boofs on Little Falls to the slide on the Staircase section, the South Fork of the Payette is pure fun.
PeakUK US PeakUK US: Middlebury Season
The Middlebury River is Vermont's finest creek. Local boaters have dreams and nightmares about the infamous Birth Canal Gorge. It runs frequently after the trees shed their leaves. I got it at a juicy level a few days ago.
Whitewater Rescue Whitewater Rescue: River Safety: Where do we draw the line?
As we clamored in and out of the icy river, I noticed a group preparing their raft for a float down the Gallatin. I began to assess their preparedness. I watched as they inflated their raft. It was an older bucket boat, but appeared to be in good repair, and seemed adequate for the class III-IV float they were about to embark upon.
Go Kayak Now Go Kayak Now: Kayak Surfing San Diego 2009
A standup paddler paddled over the top of a crest on a wave I had already take and was surfing and then cut towards me on his board, luckily I broke away from him and past him. One of the old guys on a longboard gave him a bit of a tongue lashing and told him he basically stole the wave.
Adrian Tregoning Adrian Tregoning: Cape Town – Adrian's Guide to Surf Spots – Part 2
Just inside of the Outer Kom is another little point break that also runs left. You have to sit in the kelp and take off from there. Popular with bodyboarders, mainly beginners. The kelp would be extremely off putting for kayakers. Both the Inner and Outer Kom need to be reached by launching from the rocks, but you could launch from inside the bay too. Not ideal for paddling.
Hans Heupink Hans Heupink: River paddling - Valley Nordkapp LV
The Nordkapp-LV is totally different from the classic Nordkapps types HS and HM I paddled before. First impression: I liked the confidence giving, responsive and comfortable kayak. The ocean-cockpit with thigh braces integrates a kayaker of my size (1.82 m, 73 kg) perfect in the kayak.
