Playak News Flash - April 22, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Level 6 Great Video - Wet Dreams: On tour
Level 6 - So things are happening rapidly down here in California. I previewed some of Huckin Huge's new film Haymaker down at the Brush Creek Race this weekend, and let me say it is going to be legendary. Wet Dreams and Haymaker will be touring through Cali, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and a couple stops in Canada so keep your eyes out.
LiquidLore Upper Squamish And More
LiquidLore - April in BC, if it's not raining, can be a little grim for people who like to enjoy whitewater kayaking on a regular basis. While much of the country is experiencing the full force of the spring freshet most of the rivers in the mountain time zones are still dried up. The weather may be nice but where all the snow lives up in the mountains it's still cold enough to keep everything on lock-down.
LVM TV Canyons Laiden With Gold
LVM TV - We repeat that tomorrow, April 20th, will be the last day to submit Golden Stroke photos or video for the Werner Paddles Golden Strokes of April contest. We'll continue to post submissions this week and have online voting the last week of April and announce the winner on May, 3, 2010.
PaddleBlogs LAST CHANCE TOUR report 2
PaddleBlogs - In our first report we talked about how we approached into the Indian Himalayas to find new playground, new first descents and how we made our way into our first river of the trip. Our next river was called Balikila, a small creek feeding into the Alaknanda, which we could see from the other side of the river on the way out from our first river we ran.
Shane's Logic Liquidlogic at the NOC shootout and Demo
Shane's Logic - This past weekend I went over to the Nantahala Outdoor Center to show boats at the store as well as watch the action at the Shootout, which is the first event in the USAFK point series. Liquidlogic had a few entrants and they showed proud for the event both in the new playboat Biscuit series, and older freestyle designs. John Clark from NOC rocked a Skip in the C-1 category and was amazing out there slicing an dicing and throwing in the big loop on just about every ride.
Jackson Kayak Come to GOP/Charlotte to Meet EJ/Dane today, or paddle USNWC
Jackson Kayak - Spend the afternoon with world-champion professional whitewater kayaker Eric Jackson this Wednesday, April 21. Eric will be at the Park Road location of Great Outdoor Provision Co.
Kokatat Blog Sycamore Canyon Adventures
Kokatat Blog - "I had to chuckle at the incredulity of my boating partners as they repeatedly questioned me, "Are you sure this is a first descent?" Indeed, I too was shocked that it had taken this long for anyone to paddle the entirety of Sycamore Canyon. But that was exactly the case.
Werner Hayley Shephard Strives Against The Odds To Fulfill Her Dream
Werner - On January 22nd Vancouver Island based wilderness guide and expedition leader, Hayley Shephard set out to attempt the very first solo sea kayak expedition around the remote Sub-Antarctic Island of South Georgia. An exceptionally remote, storm thrashed island, South Georgia stands alone in the path of relentless storms and the savage winds of the Southern Ocean.
