News Watch Headlines Naish'S Manca Notar Takes 2nd in Paris Naish - For the fourth consecutive year, the Nautic SUP Paris Crossing ran through Paris in Stand Up Paddle form as part of the annual Paris Boat Show. Europe's largest SUP race attracted over 300 hundred paddlers to the River Seine, the waterway that flows through the heart of the French capital, for a bitterly cold but spectacular weekend of racing. Jake Jensen 2nd, Chase Kosterlitz 5th Fanatic SUP - The Paddle Royal took place last weekend with an epic Long Distance race finishing and four different short-medium distance course and sprint races. Points from all five races are combined (with the Long Distance Race being counted twice) and each paddler's worst result is dropped before the final rankings list is produced. I've been kayaking for over 25 years now and am amazed how much the kit has moved on during that time. Some of the world's best athletes are on a river expedition on the Salmon River and they show us how it is to pursue white water SUP, its different from surfing and paddling on oceans and its challenging. An Afternoon with The Big O Mark Sundin - We had a rare treat yesterday afternoon, in the form of a paddle clinic from 12-time Molokai world surfski champion Oscar Chalupsky. A crew of 16 paddlers, all except one of whom were essentially sea kayakers who have gotten into surfski in the past couple of years, took part in the three hour session where Oscar covered the basics of forward stroke for surkski, remounts, and a broad history of the evolution of the wing paddle. The Incomappleux Expedition Kayak Hot Dogs - 5 km into our river descent and we've already encountered three newly formed rapids. Caused by violent washouts on several tributary creeks, we begin to fear what the next stretch of river may bring. From what we know, the valley's gradient is about to increase. Combined with the higher than expected flows, there's a good chance we'll be in for some grueling portages. An women's experience in expedition paddling SUP Magazine - Soon we were imagining our first foray into expedition paddling, a 20-mile circumnavigation of Conanicut Island. It would prove to be a perfect start to our deep dive into this addiction. We consulted with our friend Jim Bernard, a kayak and SUP instructor who kayaked around the island many times before. He gave us great advice, suggesting our launch spot and helping us plan a route to coincide with the tides.
