Mocké clan dominate in Mauritius ~ Trains, Planes and Paddlers

Playak News Flash - July 10, 2014
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Sportscene Mocké clan dominate in Mauritius
Sportscene - It was a dominant display from the surfski heavy weights in the Western Cape as the Mocké family won both the men's and the women's singles at the recent Mauritius Ocean Classic that took place in the island paradise last weekend with Jasper and Nikki proving too strong for their respective fields as they claimed the top podium step.
Kayak Yak Trains, Planes and Paddlers
Kayak Yak - How come we never see stuff like this when we go paddling? On the other hand, it gives new meaning to tubing down a river.
Isle Surf and SUP Isle Crew Chases Hurricane Arthur East to the Big Apple on Independence Day
Isle Surf and SUP - With a small swell forecast for Southern California combined with a dash of foggy notion a few of the crew chose to head east for Independence Day this year. Hurricane Arthur was just starting to present himself to potentially deliver some epic surf to the New York area so I packed up some shred gear along with two Isle Inflatable's and headed to the big Apple.
Canoelover I Can Quit Whenever I Want
Canoelover - The problem I have is that I don't have enough frames ready for lacing. Lace in the summer when varnish dries without heating up the shop, and steam bend frames when it's cold. Problem is that I didn't have my bending jigs done for the winter season so I am using pre-bent frames I get from a guy who makes snowshoes.
ICF Canoe Freestyle World Cup denouement to take place this week in Sort
ICF - 10 years after the 2004 European Championships, Sort will be the closing venue for the 2014 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Cup, after the two first stages organized in Millau (France, 25-29/06) and Salt (Spain, 01-06/07). The three events are independent, but each awards points for a final absolute ranking.
Jackson Kayak Runswick Bay a Day Too Late
Jackson Kayak - Organised by Ken and Fiona of Wet and Wild this has been a regular in the calendar for many years and is a big fish contest. Local knowledge usually comes to the fore here and I have struggled in this and the Scarborough match every time I have attended. I always catch fish, but just not the big ones needed.
Starboard Starboard'S Zane Schweitzer European Cup Champion
Starboard - Congratulations Zane Schweitzer for your win in Finland over the weekend and for becoming the European Cup Champion! For a guy who almost stayed in Tahiti searching for the best day at Teahupoo, who lost all his luggage and end up with damaged boards and broken paddles from the airlines, Zane, certainly shocked a lot of racers and the world with his outstanding performances over the last several weeks.
Werner SUP Circumnavigation of Puerto Rico with Werner Paddles' athlete, Mike Simpson.
Werner - On February 15th 2014, Mike Simpson set off to SUP around the entire island of Puerto Rico. With a total of 273 nautical miles ahead of him, Mike was anxious to get started. Jokingly he called out to all NASCAR fans letting them know that they were going to turn right, and keep going right, until they came back.
Just Liquid 4-Hour Kayak tour of the Moyie Lake Narrows
Just Liquid - Come out and join us this Tuesday, July 8th, for an afternoon of paddling on one of our areas' popular lakes. We will be heading out to Moyie Lake to tour the Narrows from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.
Jackson Kayak Kayak catching smallmouth bass
Jackson Kayak - I've fished for smallmouth bass all over North America. Smallmouth bass can be toughest fish to find. For many anglers the most common error is to approach smallmouth like largemouth bass. At times they will hit same artificial lures but make no mistake they live a very different lifestyle.
All Outdoors WW Rafting Family Fun: South Fork American Float Trips
All Outdoors WW Rafting - Little kids and water–the perfect summer combo right? But there are minimum ages for whitewater rafting trips. What's a tiny rafter to do? If you're just knee-high to a grasshopper and kindergarten is your reality, not a distant memory, you're not certainly headed to the Middle Fork, and even the South Fork's class III rapids are out of reach.
Casting Tales Outdoor Texas Camps
Casting Tales - Jeremy Chavez is a neophyte photographer/cinematographer, blogger, and full-time fly and light tackle fishing guide who hails from the Bayou City (Houston, Texas for those of you not in the know). He eats, sleeps and breathes fish.
Katrina van Wijk Summer 2014 Update!
Katrina van Wijk - Summer started early for me this year with many weekend kayaking trips in between class and school projects.  I met the local whitewater kayakers and was driving up to Squamish and Whistler the moment school ended.
Werner Sage Donnelly reflects on the Homestake Creek Race at the GoPro Mountain Games
Werner - This year I was able to do the Homestake Creek Race at the Gopro Mountain Games! We got there a few days before the race to get some practice laps in, and the first thing I did was walk the course with EJ [Eric Jackson] while watching Dane [Jackson] run some laps. Then I did a couple laps with Hunt Jennings where we broke it down into 3 sections (top, middle, and bottom). We then did some laps on the top and middle section. Hunt went to take a break so I did a middle lap with Mathieu Dumoulin.
Naish Naish's Noelani Sach and Casper Steinfath Reign At The Sieravuori SUP Masters
Naish - The Sieravuori SUP Masters was well underway this past weekend from July 5-6, 2014 as paddlers descended upon Finland for Stop #3 of the European Cup.
