News Watch Headlines 2015 OluKai Ho'o: Local Suzie Cooney Talks What's New SUP Magazine - Suzie Cooney has worked behind the scenes at the OluKai Ho'o—Maui's famed North Shore downwind race—for the past five years. A Maui local and veteran of the North Shore downwinding scene, Cooney knows the course, its nuances and history as well as any paddler. But this year—for the first time in its seven-year span—the event will be a bit different. Here, Cooney breaks down the changes and gives us a heads up on what to expect at next weekend's 2015 OluKai Ho'o. It's the official launch of the SUPfm podcast, an online radio series devoted to stand up paddle boarding (SUP). The 2015 SUP Race Season has begun! Bote - The 2015 Standup Paddleboard Race Season has begun, and an exciting start at that! The conditions and compeition at both The Carolina Cup, and the first race of the SUP The South Series were both fierce to say the least.  Read this for a recap of these events... The Ever Evolving Paddle Size Debate Quickblade - Anyone else remember the blades we all started with? 110, 120 sq inch blades have now become 90, 83, 96 square inches. It's getting more rare for us to ship a blade over 100 square inches. St Ives Bay Celtic Cup SUP International - Throughout the weekend, Carbis Bay will provide the hub from which the event will take place. There will be an athletes village comprising of trade stalls, demo equipment and refreshments. British Universities Creek Race 2015 Team Pyranha - This March saw the third annual British Universities Creek Race take place in Glen Etive, Scotland. In the event's short history the race has seen super low levels in it's first year and beautiful medium levels last year. Fortunately the river gods have continued this theme of escalation and this year we were treated with way more water than most have seen in the Etive. Stand Up for the Ocean Bote - Most ocean-loving SUPers would probably agree that paddling through Florida's calm blue bays and tangled mangrove forests is pretty awe-inspiring. In fact, connecting with the ocean can have such a strong impact on peoples' lives and behavior that there is an entire organization dedicated to the cause in Sanibel, FL. Sanibel Sea School with a mission to improve the ocean's future, one person at a time. Kayaking Patagonia with Erin Bastian : TPZ 089 The Pursuit Zone - For five weeks, Erin Bastian and two teammates paddled sea kayaks 800 km through a beautiful and remote wilderness in the Chilean Patagonia. Starting in Puerto Eden, they traveled south through the fjords and rivers and among tidal glaciers and icebergs until their finish point in Puerto Natales. Paddlers' Nepal Relief Efforts Canoe Kayak - Well, Nepal earthquake disaster makes us all sad. Here we have the author of 'White Water Nepal' Peter Knowles raising funds to help the affected forks out there. Nepal does have great rivers to paddle on, and is a great place for a paddle expedition, as a British expedition paddler the incident has moved Peter into action which is inspiring. More than money, travel, culture, its humanity which binds us all. Pyranha 9r – Beth Morgan's Perspective unsponsored - I was lucky enough to try the 9R prototype back in August and ever since have been in love with the boat. I have had the opportunity to try it in a number of different situations – steep creeks to big volume, river running to racing to expeditions, and it just keeps surprising me by how well it performs.
