News Watch Headlines April 11 – Garfield, AR Local Event River Bassin Trail - The perfect 72 degree day in the beautiful Ozark mountains set the scene for some unique tournament results. Anglers found the fishing to be tougher today than in the week prior, due to a small cold front. It turns out that one of my wrists is still pretty squeaky from last weeks' monster paddle, so I bailed out of the trip early but all good, there are worse places and ways to spend a morning. 2015 NZ Citreon Extreme Race Jackson Kayak - The 2015 Citreon Extreme Race was one to be at, but this year it was played out with a bit of a twist. Held on the Citreon Rapid in the Kawarau Gorge (New Zealand). California Canoe & Kayak Opening Day and Fundraiser on the American River Kokatat Blog - This year was my first time attending the California Canoe & Kayak (CCK) opening day on the South Fork of the American River. All I could say was wow. What a turn out! We had full classes from SUP, to Playboating, River Running, Creeking, and a Fun Run with Colin Kemp from World Kayak and local paddling icon Hilde Schweitzer. Each class had 2 instructors and 8 people attending. Match the Hatch for Big Fish Jackson Kayak - Match the hatch is a phrase we fishermen hear all to often, especially when targeting skinny water redfish on the Texas gulf coast in the early spring. Isle Visits the Dana Point Ocean Challenge Isle Surf and SUP - The 27th Annual Dana Point Ocean Challenge hosted by the Dana Outrigger Club was a hit this year attracting several hundred stand up paddlers and outrigger racers from SoCal. We cracked it in the morning from San Diego and headed up to Dana Point with a couple of our team riders and 12'6 Isle race boards. Blooming marvellous scenery, lead and iron in Loch Shiel. SeaKayakPhoto.com - We were still paddling in the mountainous part of Loch Shiel but we came to the first major break in the mountains that line the SE shore, where the River Polloch flows into the loch from the broad Glen Hurrich. So You Know How It Is When You Should Really Go to Bed Frogma - OK, that doesn't happen to me all the time, but I hadn't done any of my more ambitious attempts at drawing or painting lately. Save Like Spring Feel Like Winter. Kayak Yak - Louise and I headed down to Ocean River this morning to check out their annual spring gear-up sale. There were a few changes this year as this sale was billed as the Spring Splash rather than the Gear-Up Sale, and the boats and reps were set-up in Ocean River's dock area, rather than the parking lot across the street.
