Kokatat Blog Grand Canyon
Kokatat Blog - I was sitting here trying to think of a clever title for this blog post, but really, no other words or titles are needed: Grand Canyon is accurate. To me the Canyon is one of the most beautiful and most powerful places on Earth, and I'm very fortunate that this trip in July was my third journey down the river.
Jackson Kayak 300 miles
Jackson Kayak - Every summer I start making my migration down the Overseas High Way in search of the big three. With predominate east winds light and muggy it only means long paddles lots of polling and number of shots on fly at bonefish permit and tarpon. I do this trip twice week averaging 300 miles a trip.

SUP Connect Top 10 Advanced Tips For Organizing Elite SUP Races
SUP Connect - Elite stand up paddle (SUP) races require a few extra touches that make all the difference. And here is yet another warning, nearly every high-profile, elite sup race has failed. Examples include: Battle of the Paddle (which used to be the gold-standard of paddleboard events), Payette River Games (which offered the world's largest prize purse), and the Ultimate SUP Showdown (which aimed for televised exposure).

Canoe Kayak Pushing the Season: Gear Tips for the Shoulder Seasons
Canoe Kayak - Fall is my favorite. The cottonwoods are flaming, geese are in the sky, ice in the water jug in the morning, blustery days on the water, everything ebbing toward winter. Part of the attraction is that most people are done – back to school, or work, or on to other activities. Paddling in October in Montana, or November some years, or March, for that matter – it just doesn't cross people's minds. All the better, because I have the river to myself. Weather can be an issue, sure, but if I'm ready for it, no big deal. A few key pieces of gear make it workable. No, more than workable . . . so nice it makes me smug.
Girls at Play How to Swim in Whitewater
Girls at Play - My whitewater kayak students often hear me say 'we're all in between swims,' and  I've had the recent opportunity to prove myself right. When I swim, I swim. What I mean by that is I don't waste time floating on my back in 'safe swimmers position.' I look to the nearest, most accessible shore and get my butt there. In Class III it's easy for me to stay calm and collect all of my own gear because I know that the consequences are relatively low and I'm accustomed to performing rescues in that class of water.
