Scott McClesky brought this in yesterday from their trip down the Thompson River over in the Lake Jocassee Drainage. Apparently the road from the Bad Creek Access Area is open during hunting season, allowing you to run shuttle on the Thompson.

We had our last national freestyle competition, called the Catalan Championships. The event was held in Millau, a nice village with an artificial slalom course in southern France.

For year's now we've been recycling the waste plastic from our factory; our offcuts mixed with other plastic to become toys, compost bins and carrier bags. Good for the environment? Not bad, but our aim has always been to recycle our waste ourselves - to produce more kayaks.

Once we got to the weir everyone was well warmed up and keen to see what to could do, I was really impressed with everyone and just how willing they were to get stuck in. Again after a small bit of coaching everyone's rides were improving. One of the things I really like to encourage is peer learning and sharing ideas with each other which the whole gang got into.
PeakUK PeakUK: Rafting R4 Pre-Worlds, Holland
The Peak UK Rafting Teams have just returned from the Pre-Worlds held at Dutch Water Dreams artificial white water course. This was the first world level competition to be held as an R4 race (4-man rafts), in a bid to make the sport more 'Olympic friendly', and made for some very exciting viewing.

Olaf Obsommer presented his new film tour programme in Rosenheim called "Adventure Kayak - Chile, Sumatra and Sibiri" and truly impressed the audience.

Portland's contribution to the 350 movement was a sight to be seen. Over 150 determined Portlanders formed the image of "350″ by combining kayaks, canoes, stand up boards, a small sail boat, row boat, rafts, and other paddled craft in the Willamette River proving once and for all that cats can be herded and that the paddling community is strongest when banded together in a fight for a common cause.

This race was incredible as it was a 6 mile long race around the famed Alcatraz Island. What a spectacle to paddle so close to the island.

The new cam worked well, no fogging or water retained on special optical lens port, wheel is gone more like a shoulder mounted bazooka now. Able to go underwater and has external mike and earphone sockets. 5hr battery and all controls activated mechanically from the exterior of the housing, very reliable, provision for gyros.
