In November of 2009, four South African kayakers teamed up with four Indonesian paddlers on an expedition to explore the rivers of the Solok Selatan regency of West Sumatra. After eleven days we had managed to paddle four beautiful rivers, and claim several first descents.

On January 22nd Vancouver Island based wilderness guide and expedition leader, Hayley Shephard will set out to attempt the very first solo sea kayak expedition around the remote Sub-Antarctic Island of South Georgia. Shephard's expedition, called "Kayaking to Save the Albatross," will bring light to illegal fisheries and the outdated techniques used in the current long line fishing industry.

The weather at the moment is currently SUPER cold and although i've braved it a few times, I wasn't out long enough to take many pics. Me and Pete had a brief slalom this morning but the lake lake at WWTCC is very frozen so we might have a few days off till it warms up.

As we crossed Fairlie Roads we left the navigation buoys marking the edge of the the shipping lane behind. In the distance to the SW, Ailsa Craig still peeped over the horizon though it was 60km away. A solitary yacht was also making her way back to Largs marina.
