Actually, more and more "curious" hire every weekend the services of companies to provide them hours of adrenaline in turbulent waters. Usually, while these commercial trips are taking place on safer sections, the most experienced canoeists delight themselves in one of the most complete and known courses in Portugal, the Gorge of Paiva. If the river is navigable hardly you will not find kayakers challenging the rapids of the Gorge.

The first rapid was quite simple and it continued like this most of the way. There were basically no pools, only slightly calmer sections where the water still moved very swiftly. It was mostly quite easy paddling but still very fun.

Now if there`s one sport in the Olympic games that makes me laugh out loud its synchronized swimming, but synchronized rolling is a much more serious matter. I have sent in an application to the Olympic committee to have it approved as an official sport in the next olympic games and have received as assurances that my request is being seriously considered.

Bill served as AW's lead volunteer representative in the Dolores River Working Group in Southwestern Colorado in 2009.
