The world's latest paddling headlines.
Tidytrix Norway again
Tidytrix - So here are the photos from Norway as promised...ooo...way too long ago. I spent just a couple of weeks in Norway this year, so apologies all you hardcore kayakers, I didn't do anything new this year, the photos are from the accessible classics.
Tidytrix Kayaking into 2011
Tidytrix - Last year I went back to university to study for 12 months, so I didn't get up to my usual escapades. However it was every bit an adventure of a different kind. Being based in the UK for a year had its advantages, I didn't have to pack and unpack my bags every couple of weeks for a start, and I managed to fit in some quality British kayaking, and I appreciated even more, the time I could spend on the water.
Team LiquidLogic Dipper Creek, BC 2010
Team LiquidLogic - Dipper Creek, British Columbia. Dipper is one of the most beautiful and committing places I have ever been. The gorge is incredible, the rapids and waterfalls are incredibly fun but its a lot of work. There are a few involved portages as well as many must run rapids. I spent two full weekends here in early October filming.
PaddleBlogs Blyde Xfest 2010 video clip from Dean
PaddleBlogs - Thanks to Dean Botcher for this little video showing some of the action of the 2010 Blyde Xfest. Make sure you have your entry sorted for your once a year chance to come race in the famous largest green canyon in the world. The Blyde Canyon.
Kayaking the Mobile - Tensaw River Delta 2/13/2011 - Perdido and Styx Rivers Confluence
Kayaking the Mobile - Tensaw River Delta - Heading north after launching. Concern about current was put at ease after seeing paddling conditions at the launch site. Check the river gauges before paddling these rivers. (2) Above right: Duh, almost all rivers lead to a dead end. It would be wise to plan your trip out and put it on a GPS before you leave, although if you follow the current on these two rivers, it would be hard to get lost.
SUPadvisor Balance Training to Improve your Stand Up Paddle Surfing
SUPadvisor - Balance is another important component of Jon's training program. Because the water is rarely smooth and glassy, the wind seldom calm, and you are standing on a large paddle surf board, YOU MUST TRAIN YOUR BALANCE! Balance is a learned component of your fitness training. Your body learns to balance in the same way you learned math when you were a child PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! You can't expect to learn math magically without repetitive steps.
SUP HQ Lightwind Downwinder a huge success
SUP HQ - Another great turnout for the 5th edition of the PRIMI Naish SUP Downwinder on Wednesday night. 34 entries is a new record for the Stand Up Paddlers and it was very encouraging to see 10 ladies line up for the 10km Downwind Stand Up Paddling challenge.
SUP Surf Zane Schweitzer Finalist Sunset Beach World Tour 2011
SUP Surf - Here is an interview with Zane Schweitzer from the Waterman League sent to us by Margareta, Starboard's marketing manager.
