Playak News Flash - July 19, 2012
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Michele Ramazza How a BoaterX works
Michele Ramazza - BoaterX has become very popular during the last 4-5 years. Everybody organizes this kind of race but not many people have a clear idea about rules and ranking system.
Jackson Kayak FIBArk Festival
Jackson Kayak - I was really excited to compete at FIBArk this year, especially considering I had to miss the event last year for the World Championships. My first impression of the feature was a little less than enthusiastic. All of Colorado this year hasn't been at the usual impressive state due to low water levels. But I must say for what we were given, we definitely made it work.
Have Kayaks, Will Travel Preparing for a trip: Paddling!
Have Kayaks, Will Travel - We spent several weeks assembling all the gear and supplies we'll need for our upcoming trip along the shoreline of Pukaskwa National Park and Superior Highlands in Canada. But all the planning and preparation would be for naught if we didn't also get out and paddle.

Level 6 Cameron Creek – Alberta
Level 6 - With poor weather on the horizon, we headed towards Waterton, a diamond in the rough in my opinion. Waterton has an old Swiss feel to it, the picturesque town is in the middle of a national park and so is kept pristine.
Dustin Urban Liquid Logic Remix Review
Dustin Urban - Liquid Logic designed the Remix to be a high-performance displacement hull (round bottomed), great for beginner and instructional boaters as well as intermediates and experts that love the speed and performance of a modern displacement hull.
Astral Currently Reflections from a Bricklayer
Astral Currently - The other night, I found myself in a conversation with a few friends about making decisions about running hard whitewater. I have always been one of the more conservative boaters among the people I boat with as far as safety and walking away from rapids that I don't feel "go". Thankfully this has led to a full 8 or 9 years of kayaking injury free (mountain biking is another story) with very few close calls.
Palm Blogs Slovenia
Palm Blogs - After the Europeans was finished we visited the lake one last time to play on the diving boards and then went off to Slovenia for a little holiday with my parents and a Whitewater Safety and Rescue course with Palm's Tom Parker on the Soca River.
Level 6 The North Fork Championship
Level 6 - A month ago I was in Idaho at the Payette River preparing for the biggest race I had ever been a part of. When I first heard about the North Fork Championship I was super excited. I had competed in a giant slalom race on the Little White Salmon in 2008 and ever since I'd been looking forward to seeing more class 5 slalom races. When I sent in my application I didn't think I'd actually be selected so when I was I started to get really excited and also a little scared. It was an intimidating line up to be included in and the mystique surrounding the North Fork and Jacob's Ladder made it sound terrifying to race down
Rene van der Zwan Impression of the Qajariaq (Valley)
Rene van der Zwan - Mostly I try to find out what a specific seakayak is meant for first. I discovered that Valley does not write much about the Qajariaq.

worldkayak Another Great World Kayak HTTD — Nashville!
worldkayak - This past Saturday's Hometown Throwdown went off with a bang. The middle TN area had recently been going through a major drought, one of the worst ones since the 1800′s. We had to look at other options for our Hometown Throwdowns. After doing a flatwater upstream race on Overall Creek in Murfreesboro and a throwrope competition on Percy Priest Lake, we were due for a break.
