News Watch Industrial Wave-HTTD #2 West Kootenays, BC WK Throwdown (Monday 2nd) ** - The second HTTD to hit the koots came after wrapping up the highest water Kootenay Whitewater Festival in history on Sunday evening. The competitors were soggy after surviving the rainy flood level festival and it seemed like the World Kayak HTTD would produce a weak turnout. Lucky for us the sun found it's way through the clouds and the record high water produced a surf wave in Trail that blew everyone out of the water, some literally. Kokatat unveils the Kokatat Jackson Collection at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Kokatat (Friday 29th) ** - Kokatat collaborated with whitewater kayaking icon Eric "E.J." Jackson and his son Dane Jackson, the reigning Junior World Champion, to create the Kokatat Jackson Collection that will be introduced at the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT, August 1-4, 2012. The collection includes multiple dry tops, a PFD, and GORE-TEX dry suit. Paddling Finances Log of Ibi (Thursday 5th) ** - This gets into a very personal area. It is so personal, that it's one of those things that leads to divorces. I won't suggest that I have the answers, but I'll throw out a few ideas just for consideration. The first point is whether paddling is your interest alone, or whether it is something you share with your spouse, or the whole family. Financial expenditures are always easier to justify if it's money that benefits everyone. If only one person in the family benefits, whether it is voiced or not, there will ALWAYS be jealousy or resentment over where, for what, and how much is going out of the coffers. Upper Ganges, India. Chris Eastabrook (Saturday 30th) ** - The line between a holiday and an expedition is often blurred.  Many arguments have raged over what constitutes and expedition; must there be first descents? Bad food? Do there need to be tales of epics? Is a far-flung destination enough? Here, Chris and Dave give two different takes on a recent trip to Uttaranchal Pradesh, in the Indian Himalaya. You can decide for yourself whether the trip was an expedition, or just a great adventure kayaking trip.... On the mecca of kayaking! Dagger Blogs (Wednesday 4th) ** - This last days around the Voss area have been absolutely insane!!! Haven't stopped kayaking for a single day since the day I arrived to Norway, the 28 of may… yes my body... Portugal Chris Eastabrook (Saturday 30th) ** - Sometime in November, I had the idea to take the Pyranha Team Van to Portugal and film a short promo video advertising the new Shiva model. Portugal because I'd seen photos of a stunning set of granite waterfalls and with plenty of other potential given the right conditions. ... Kialoa Women Paddler Vanina Walsh Took Fourth at ROXY Waikki Classic Kialoa (Saturday 30th) * - Congratulations Vanina Walsh for your 4th place finish at the ROXY Waikiki Classic, Saturday, June 16, 2012. Vanina is one of our KIALOA 'elele  and also a ROXY pro surfer. Be sure to check out the surf video Vanina posted below. The event wasn't only about fun. Big South. NBD. Leif and Natalie (Saturday 30th) * - The Big South is truly a river that needs no introduction, so I won't give it one. There is a slideshow of all the photos at the end of the article. Here are a few of my favorites. Newark Party Wave Returns! Wavesport Blogs (Wednesday 4th) * - Ok so its been a long while since I've posted anything on here really, super busy at work. Doesn't mean I haven't been boating just no time to write up! We have had a lot of rain recently over Nottingham and it has been very on and off; This week Newark weir came into play. The Best Shoes for Kayaking: Two Great Wetshoes You Should Own PaddlingLight (Saturday 30th) * - Over the 15 years that I've kayaked, I've used a bunch of different shoes and I've had my favorites, but I haven't found a shoe that I loved enough to buy it twice until now. And, now I have two shoes that I consider the best shoes for kayaking. Skookumchuck Leif and Natalie (Saturday 30th) * - I don't really know why, but it has started to piss me off when people refer to Skookumchuck as "Skooks". I have noticed this trend elsewhere in kayaking. The Upper Five is "Uppers," Pandora's Box is "Pandora's" (well, I guess that's not too bad), Bailey Creek is "Bailey's". So, you want to buy your first kayak? Durhamblogger (Sunday 1st) * - Or, five tips to follow BEFORE you buy your first kayak! During my paddling adventures, folks will come up to me at various put in / take out areas and ask about getting into paddling sports. Here's some advice I learned over several years of paddling kayaks, to pass on to any person thinking about getting into this wonderful sport! A week in Val Sesia Dave Goadby (Monday 2nd) * - I spent a week in June in the beautiful valley of Val Sesia. We were a bit late getting our act together and only organised it 2 weeks before we drove out, but it came together nicely and a great week was had. We arrived just in time to catch the end of the kayaking festival, it was great to see some of the events and catch up with old friends but did mean the camp site was a bit busy! Just passing through... Leif and Natalie (Wednesday 4th) * - We have just arrived at the Slave River in Fort Smith, NWT. It's a very long drive, and this year we broke the drive up by swinging through BC on the way. I mean, they're both in Canada, so they shouldn't be that far apart, right? Norway! Louise Jull (Wednesday 4th) * - Imagine beautiful mountains, hundreds of incredible rivers and stunning scenery...Norway!!! After losing our kayaks off the road just out of San Francisco we travelled day and night to reach the beautiful lands of Norway! Totally stoked to be here! From day 1 we have been on the river!...
