WPA, has SUP races both for novices and elites, know the schedules here. It's a great opportunity to learn SUP, race and have fun and chill with Naked Turtle Rum drinks. Home fun and Games Nick Pearce - So it has been quite a while since I have put anything up and the last few months have been a bit of a blur since leaving Norway, getting home and working like mad through the christmas period but just as it looked like we where not going to get any rain till the new year the rain came and here are a few highlights from being back on the local runs again. White Salmon River 'Farmland Section' PDX River Explorers - The Farmlands section of the White Salmon R. is a run I often overlook. I am not sure why I don't go to the Farmlands more?? Maybe because I always want to run the Green Truss. But last winter's big ice storm had a devastating impact on the Green Truss leaving wood everywhere ... The Cornish Cribber with Nick Healey SUPboarder - With some big swells battering the Cornish coast this week we thought it was time to talk about big wave surfing. The Cribber " near Newquay is Cornwall's big surfing wave. When it's on it's on… but knowing when it's on is a different matter! Nick Healey is one of the few guys in Cornwall brave enough to take on his home countys big wave spot on a SUP. Fins on the River Badfish SUP - The use of fins on standup paddle boards in rivers is an evolving aspect of our new sport. The use and types of fins available for stand up paddling in the ocean or flatwater is pretty well established so I am not going to spend a lot of time talking about fins in flatwater or the ocean for this post. NRS Co Pilot Rescue Knife unsponsored - If you are using a throw line on the river I firmly believe that you need to carry a knife capable of cutting the line you are using. There are two schools of thought on how a knife should be carried. The first option is to have a knife stored in such a way that it does not create a snag hazard but still remains accessible. Organized by Matt Palmariello and Sean Morley, GGSKS is aimed at advanced beginners and intermediate paddlers who want to push the envelope and paddle in rougher waters in a welcoming and controlled environment.
