Trash Paddler A Busy Assabet

Anton Lippek Home Sweet Home
Anton Lippek - As you may already know my father was involved in a road traffic accident before I left for Nepal and while I was away, he experienced a few ups and downs in hospital with his hip shattering again during his recovery. He was booked in to have his hip replaced the day after I returned and the operation went well.

Jackson Kayak 2014 Squirt Boating Mystery World Championships Report
Jackson Kayak - I know that this isn't strictly a Jackson Kayak post (JK doesn't actually make squirt boats), but a few Team JK paddlers and World Kayak people competed so I figured that it might be fun for others to hear about. FWIW, I also use a Jackson Happy Feet size small in my squirt boat–it's the best piece of outfitting ever made for a squirt boat.
SUPracer Kids Take Centre Stage As Hobie Hennessey's Waterman's Challenge Returns SUP Racing To Doheny
SUPracer - Earlier today a small but classy field of paddlers descended on one of SUP racing's traditional homes, Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California. The 2014 Hobie Hennessey's Waterman's Challenge was a two-race event, combining a 5 miler with an elite surf race to crown the overall winners.
SUPracer Fernando Stalla and April Zilg Win The Soundsurfer Race in Connecticut
SUPracer - SUP racing is apparently alive and well in Connecticut (above New York/below Boston) with over a hundred paddlers turning out for the Soundsurfer Waterman's Challenge on the weekend.
SUPracer First Look At The 2014 Battle of The Paddle Course Maps
SUPracer - So it looks like the Battle of the Paddle crew updated the official event website a couple of days ago. Finally. That old design had been around for aaaages and was getting very stale. The new BattleOfThePaddle.com design looks fresh, clean and makes the event way easier to navigate.

SUP Surf - At Blue Planet, we were not satisfied with the carry handles on the market and decided to develop our own carry handle. After developing several prototypes and going through the design, testing and molding process, the result is the new, patent pending SUP Grip.
Am. Whitewater Action Alert - Speak Up for Freely Flowing Pacific Northwest Rivers!
Am. Whitewater - The Northwest Power and Conservation Council (Council) is currently accepting public comment and holding public hearings about important river protections that impact freely flowing rivers throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho and parts of Montana...
Riding Bumps Part 1: Find your ideal SUP stroke rate
Riding Bumps - At one point or another, just about every SUP racer will decide that it is time to get serious and look to maximize their performance. The problem is that maximizing performance without the assistance of outside feedback, such as monitoring devices or a coach is notoriously difficult. We are proponents of racing and training with heart rate. In a sport like SUP, however, if you want to maximize your performance you may need to go beyond training by heart rate.
Mark Sundin Harnessing Rebound & Clapotis
Mark Sundin - One of the most common questions I'm asked by paddlers new to the sea, is how to deal with multi-directional water. It's pretty hard to avoid off Sydney; as soon as you clear enclosed water you're bound to come under the influence of a cliff line throwing back some mess & chop.
Tony Paradise Paddle ad hoc and the three bergs
Tony Paradise - Two weeks ago Tobias informed us of an iceberg in Stiles Cove just north of Flatrock. Today we finally got around to checking it out. There was also a berg in Pouch Cove that was on our radar.
Fluid Blog Whitewater Grand Prix 2014
Fluid Blog - The Whitewater Grand Prix has been called the most prestigious kayak event in the world. It's a series of six events over the course of two weeks, with each event testing a different facet of kayaking. Half the events were freestyle events on the biggest waves in the world, half the events were races through some of the hardest whitewater available.
Jackson Kayak 2014 Watauga Race
Jackson Kayak - This past Saturday one of my favorite events of the year went down on the Watauga River Gorge. This is a really fun race, because of the friendly lazed nature of the event and the crazy mass start boater cross format! Not to mention the race is held on the best piece of class IV whitewater on the planet!! The river level was near perfect for the race at around 350 CFS.
