Altai - Russia ~ Dead man on the beach ~ Kelly’S Whitewater Park

Playak News Flash - August 5, 2014
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Mark Basso Altai - Russia
Mark Basso - In July 2013 an international team consisting of Benjamin Hjort (NOR), Mariann Saether (NOR), Ron Fisher (CH), Mark Basso (CAN), Xaver Freiser (DE) and Jasper Polak (NED) made their way to the Altai region well inside the great federation of Russia. For all of us it was that biggest part of the world we had never been to.
A whole bunch of Ing's Dead man on the beach
A whole bunch of Ing's - We've all been there. The weight of the world laying it's complete pressure down upon your chest. I lid back next to my kayak watching the clouds roll past in such a state. Thinking about how insignificant my actual problems were in the big picture of things.
SUPracer Andrew Logreco, Sonni HöNscheid Win The Na Pali Race as Downwind Month Comes to a Close
SUPracer - Here are the early results from the 2014 Na Pali Paddleboard Race, which is held on perhaps the most beautiful race course in the world: Kauai's Na Pali Coast.
Jackson Kayak Kelly'S Whitewater Park
Jackson Kayak - Being new to team JK, it takes some time to adjust to a new boat. I have to sometimes remind myself to slow down, remember the basics, and get in touch with a new boat. Kelly's whitewater park is a perfect place for that. With three different features, it offers something for everyone, not to mention warm water.
Girls at Play Live your dream

Tony Paradise Heat wave
Tony Paradise - The month of July was the hottest on record for St John's.  Luckily we had a week long trip in cooler conditions but we haven't done much paddling outside of that.  Many days it was around 30C and close to 40C with the humidex.  Too hot for me to paddle. This morning Brian and I did get out for a short paddle early before it got too hot.
SUPracer How Sic and Quickblade Dominated One of The Biggest Races of The Year
SUPracer - However there were two other winners at this year's Molokai that went a little unnoticed. And I'm not talking about paddlers, I'm talking about brands.
unsponsored Sweet Protection Shambala Shorts – Review
unsponsored - Sweet are no strangers to the paddling world and over the years I have tried and owned a fair few items from their range. However earlier this year saw the arrival of the newly updated Shamabala shorts . Compared to previous models the new 2014 have a more fitted and articulated fit. In addition to the improvements made to the overall fit the fastenings and adjustments on the shorts have also been tweaked.

SUPracer Promising young talent Bailey Rosen signs up with KM Hawaii her new sponsor
SUPracer - Just days after paddling from Molokai to Oahu and with her infectious smile as big as ever, Bailey Rosen has signed with a new board sponsor: KM Hawaii. It's quite appropriate for the signing to be announced this week, when Bailey has been in Hawaii recovering from her epic Molokai race. After taking up paddling in 2011 at home in Florida, Bailey quickly became one of the most recognisable young women on the SUP scene.
unsponsored Why Kayaking?
unsponsored - Sometimes people ask me: "why did I choose kayaking ?". Most of the time they don't really know what kayaking is and I'm struggling to give them an answer although I know it is really simple. So this is kayaking and this is why I love it so much!
Jackson Kayak The Birth of The Kraken
Jackson Kayak - As soon as I joined Jackson kayaks, a little over a year ago, we began chatting about adding an offshore/big water fishing kayak to their already impressive lineup. This style of kayak was the one missing item that they needed to cover fishing from streams and rivers, to ponds and lakes and now the open water. There was an initial push to get the kayak done quickly but it was agreed that rather than push the boat out we would take our time and get it done right and make a boat we would all be proud of. I truly believe we have done just that.
YakAngler Leash It
YakAngler - We have all heard about folks losing gear to the water gods.  Whether by accidentally dropping it or even turtling your yak. Everyone pays a price at some point.  Since I started kayak fishing 3 years ago I was worried about losing my gear and money sinking down into the abyss so I started leashing almost everything or making sure it floats.
Paddle Making Craig Johnson Sassafras Paddles
Paddle Making - Even though I missed the 2014 WCHA assembly again this year, some of the attendees have shared wonderful photos of all the canoeing fun. Jim Wilson recently uploaded a Flickr album of much of the action, including one of the long-standing traditions at the Assembly...the Paddle-by. Participants cruise by one-by-one showcasing their wooden boats. Craig's also come up with a pretty innovative way of mounting copper tips onto the blade end.
