News Watch Headlines Exploring Holy Island P&H Paddlers - s a whitewater paddler I don't know very much about sea kayaking. But I have heard of Holy Island/Anglesey and their popularity with sea paddlers. With 3 days of good weather forecast we jumped at the opportunity to borrow a couple of Hammers to explore and play on the coast of Holy Island. Paddling In Kentucky Vertical Oar - There are many places to paddle around the world, you can do it almost anywhere if you think about it as long as there is a body of water. Ej'S Canadian Team Trials/World'S Update for Freestyle Kayaking Jackson Kayak - The World Championships on Garberator next year is becoming something that is a reality now. The Canadians have hosted their Team Trials on the wave, and the teams are almost completely selected for next year's event. Discovery Island and a Sea Otter Mike Jackson - A few years ago my wife bought a number of Tiger brand insulated stainless steel bottles and we still use them today. They keep everything cold for a long time and hot for a long time, depending on what you want to do. They have a fancy pop top and very nice Japanese engineering. They are also pretty expensive. Brooklyn Bridge Break Frogma - I'll get back to my Hudson River trip reporting tonight or tomorrow, but I went on a Highly Scenic Paddle last night and I thought I would share some pix this afternoon. Ambajejus - Beautiful and Fascinating PenobscotPaddles - We were sitting in a motel room in Millinocket after a failed expedition to spot moose. I flipped back and forth between some pages in my Delorme map book looking for a place to paddle. Did we want to go up by Baxter State Park? Big Wave Freestyle – Montreal en Eau-Vive 2014 Jackson Kayak - After a 4 hour drive from the Ottawa River with Kalob Grady and James Metcalfe , we arrived in Montréal around midnight. The event, Montreal en Eau-Vive, lured us with a few great perks which included some great surf waves, jet skis, and 2 Whitewater Grand Prix qualifying spots. There were a lot of rumors leading up to what exactly would be happening, but the most common was the freestyle portion on a wave called "Mavericks."\ CD-14 Daysail Log of Ibi - I finally got back on the water for a day, but in a sailboat rather than a canoe, and carrying oars rather than paddles. Unfortunately, while I had planned to take the camera as always, I somehow walked out of the house without it, so I'm sorry, but no pictures. The Valley Mill August Md Chute Out worldkayak - This August Chute Out would have one out of three, but a great crowd showed up, with 18 competitors and we had great weather for the end of summer. We had full classes in just about every category; Juniors, K1A, K1B, C1, with the exception of K1w. Citizen Science for Paddlers and Beachcombers Kayak Yak - Science is done not only in labs by people with white coats and clipboards, but also in the field. And "in the field" can mean on the water, and on the beach. So paddlers and beach-walkers can keep your eyes open this month for some citizen science opportunities on the Salish Sea. Bitching It Up worldkayak blogs - For many years I've wanted to get to the Bitches, the famous tidal playwave spot in South-West Wales that hosted the inaugural world rodeo freestyle event, back in the day when the boats were metres long and pop-outs, paddle-twirls and fluorescent colours were all the rage. SUP 101: Fitness Austin Kayak - Paddle boarding is one of the few workouts that allows you to "walk on top of" any body of water you want! There are a couple of factors that will determine what kind of intensity level your SUP workout will be. First consider what kind of water you will be paddling on... 2014 Sup Athlete of The Year Connor Baxter - Connor Baxter has been nominated as one of the Top Male Stand Up Paddlers again this year –and the field for this award is highly competitive. Hudson River Paddle Part 7 - Day 2 On the River: Bronck Island to N. Tivoli Bay Frogma - Another long day, this time about 27 miles. Here's my 8/12 journal entry, with pictures thrown in. Italics indicate tonight's notes on the day:  A mixed day today - woke up to a glorious sunrise (yay!) then fell back to sleep and got on the river late again. OK, 8 am is less late than 10 (my Waterford start time) but it was so calm at 6 and by 8 I found myself fighting a nasty headwind.  Jake Jensen, Karla Gilbert Win The Queensland State Titles BOP Race SUPracer - In Friday's Battle of the Paddle-style course race, it was Jake Jensen taking out the Open Men's division while Karla Gilbert was the quickest of the ladies. Jake's win comes just a couple of days after he stepped off the plane following his Showdown/Gorge adventure.
