Kokatat Blog Rippin' the Bow River SUP race
Kokatat Blog - I caught myself day dreaming about Rednik's SUP race on the Bow River. This was my first taste of the culture of SUP racing and I found it thrilling and invigorating. As one of the older branches of stand up paddle boarding it attracts an enormous variety of paddlers from the veteran racers to individuals who had taken my intro to SUP class just days before.

Kokatat Blog 2500km in 101 days along the Aleutian Islands and the Alaskan Peninsula
Kokatat Blog - The bear was running towards us, splashing loudly in the stream. I could see every shaggy golden hair on his back. His concentration was absolute, focusing on a fat salmon that was equally intent on escaping the bear's powerful claws. I grinned from ear to ear, watching this magnificent hunter chase his prey.
SUP Magazine Bart de Zwart on Winning the Muskoka River X
SUP Magazine - Not even a week after the 11-City Tour I had another very long race lined up a very special race the Muskoka River X in Canada. This particular race is special because, with 130 kilometers, it's one of the longest single-day expedition races in the world. It's non-stop and without support. It goes through lakes, up and down rivers, and has 20 portages around waterfalls, rapids, and locks.

The card has been tried in various action POV cameras including my GoPro 3+ Black Edition, Contour Roam and Garmin Virb. In all cases it has been faultless.
Jackson Kayak First Descents 2014
Jackson Kayak - This season was no exception. Late July/Early August, I spent a week in Montana on the Clarks Fork River, shortly followed by two amazing weeks on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon.
Kokatat Blog Labor Day Weekend Is Pure Awesomeness When You Are a Kayaker
Kokatat Blog - Labor Day weekend can mean two completely different things to me depending on which part of my life I look at it from. For the educator part of me, Labor Day weekend causes great anxiety. The beginning of a new school year is always fun, but there are so many unanswered questions surrounding the day after Labor Day, which also happens to be the first day back to school for teachers.

Christina Russell - Indiana Jones has it right. It's not the years It's the mileage". I love that quote. We got some good mileage under our belts for sure. The Russells and McKeowns aren't the kind to sit around in case you couldn't already tell.
unsponsored Active Paddle Blade How to Kayak Paddle Education
unsponsored - An active paddle blade is a great way to help you stay upright. By having a blade in the water at all times you can quickly use it to brace or to turn, there is no need to have your paddle just sitting above the water, small pushes and braces will allow you to react to anything that you might encounter.
Jackson Kayak Improving Your Roll, The 'Jez Countdown Technique.
Jackson Kayak - Recently I have volunteered my time to help out a few Juniors learning to roll in Sydney, driving a couple of hours to do so. Why? He finished second in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, but sat out the games because he was not yet eligible to compete for the United States, where he has lived since he was 9 years old.
Jackson Kayak Thinking for Yourself- Green River Narrows- Unlimited Style
Jackson Kayak - One of the most common mistakes that everyone makes is subconsciously following the pack. Naturally, if everyone is doing it, it feels like the safe thing to do. Because no one will say anything to you for following them.
Kokatat Blog The joy of local boats: a small adventure in Sweden
Kokatat Blog - Ginni Callahan recently returned from a trip to Sweden where she took a trip in the Stockholm Archipelago in a vintage 1950s sailing canoe with her sweetheart Henrick Lindström. They both enjoy boating in its various forms, and exploring the world of water. As usual with boats, there was some minor prep to be done. Rebuilding the bottom of the mast, for example, and some bilge painting.
