Indigenous Boats The Last Dugout Canoe Builder in Hopkins, Belize
Indigenous Boats - This post is somewhat out of the ordinary for this blog, in that it's about a personal experience. It leads off a series of planned posts about dugout canoes in Belize in my more usual, somewhat analytical mode, but I found this, my experience of field research, so fulfilling that I'm inclined to share it.

Jackson Kayak 2015 Favorites
Jackson Kayak - I love hiking, especially when it has kayaking at the end. There was great potential for a phenomenal first descent of the Rio Ano Nuevo after we hiked in 30 miles over 5 days, only to be thwarted by a proper Patagonian rain storm that resulted in a flooding river. As hard as it was to hike back out, it was the safest thing to do, and we did get to paddle down a different river we had hiked up to access the Ano Nuevo

Surf Alaska - The dark stormy days of winter make for good times to reminisce on surf trips past. Here's a fun one I stumbled across in the archive. It was a late winter trip with a good group of surf buddies aboard a commercial fishing boat owned and operated by one of our local crew.
Eric Jackson EJ's Boating Plans for 2016- Whitewater, Exploration, and Fishing…
Eric Jackson - Having just returned from the Zambezi, where I had the task and pleasure of leading Lonnie Bedwell (100% Blind) down the might river in his own Zen Kayak, he has inspired me to keep pushing my boundaries as well. The Zambezi has a way of doing that all by itself, and was a great place for me to paddle my 2015 Fun. Now, at home, I have turned to my Zen for river running, waterfall running, and cold weather boating.
