Chicago Area Sea Kayakers Association - We had the beach to ourselves, save for an occasional squad car or a desperate parent wanting to give their kids a quick run to release a little steam. I felt privileged to be a witness of a fine spring storm from this unique and somewhat bouncy vantage point. I like to break out through the churning water near shore to the zone offshore where the waves are the highest, peaking before they begin their messy journey to shore. Scooting up and down the sheer wave faces is so much fun.

At wits end Tony Paradise - At wits end? Not really, just in Witless Bay for a paddle today. It was the first time I've paddled in Witless Bay; I'm at a loss to explain why. Right next door to Bay Bulls which I've paddled lots but so much more to enjoy. A lot of the south side is very shallow and with the swell and submerged rocks it was a great decision to try it today.

PaulE, KimF, JimH, BruceH & I met at Hwy 80 Weimar Cross-Road exit 131 park & ride to kayak the NF American River Shirttail Run (guide & map) (Placer County, California, USA). The Ponderosa Road to take-out was in the worst condition than I've ever seen there, so high clearance vehicles are very helpful. Considering the bad condition of our government budgets these days who knows when they will give this road the regrading that it needs.
