A classic waterfall section with very photogenic drops. It was to be a short sprint down four stacked mid-sized waterfalls. 2012 Season Wavesport Blogs - 2012 was a big year in kayaking for me. Fluid Blog - We had a stroke of luck during the end of the paddling season in the Mid-Atlantic to catch a hurricane that brought heavy rains, flooding, and canceled days of school. Since I am a school teacher, I took full advantage of this to go run some streams that rarely have enough flow to do. So Just What Is The Whitewater Grand Prix Anyway Astral Currently - Sure, almost everyone had heard of the Whitewater Grand Prix by the time the second one kicked off on December 1st. And everyone knew it was "30 of the world's best kayakers" brought together to race "some of the hardest whitewater in the world." Gol Gol Enduro Leif and Natalie - Leif and I arrived in Chile to warm weather, clear skies, and low water. As the competitors started to arrive, spirits were up and I started to gear up mentally for two weeks of intense paddling. I had never been to Chile and I had no idea what to expect with the races, other than they would be challenging. The First Day of The New Paddling Season Jackson Kayak - We get lots of weird looks driving west on I-70 with five kayaks on the roof of my truck. Many of the other vehicles have skis and snowboards and are headed to one of the many world class ski resorts Colorado is famous for. But this New Years Day we are headed to Shoshone, a class III section of the Colorado River. I should be cold- freezing, in fact- seeing as how I am wet and it is snowing and the wind, bitter. Great Falls Leif and Natalie - On our way to the Whitewater Grand Prix in Chile, Natalie and I made a quick stop on the east coast of the US for a family reunion of sorts. It was a very short trip, with only two or three days on the water. We ran the infamous Great Falls of the Potomac.
