News Watch Headlines In the Company of Musquash Trash Paddler - Spent the best part of yesterday afternoon paddling the Assabet River from Ice House Landing in Maynard to the village of Gleasondale in Stow. Coosa Fest 2015 Jackson Kayak - Even though I began playboating on the Coosa River, this is my first year to make it to the annual Coosa Fest. The Coosa Fest hosted freestyle, boatercross, an ender competition, and king of the wave. A Perfect Spring worldkayak blogs - The past few months in Leavenworth have been one of the best spring season's I've ever experienced here. It has been a perfect blend of great weather, ideal flows, and a solid stream of awesome friends coming through town. We have had days with good lines, late nights, and clean boofs, as well as beat downs, rough mornings, and lost gear. It is all part of the game and overall, the Leavenworth Zone has been incredible lately. Paddlesport Fatality Statistics Released ACA - The U.S. Coast Guard released its 2014 Recreational Boating Statistics Wednesday, revealing that boating fatalities last year totaled 610 - an increase from 2013 but still the second lowest number of boating fatalities on record. Waiting For The Thaw Jackson Kayak - It is April 2nd and the rivers here in Maine are still not ready. Our local paddling message boards are like virtual ghost towns with the occasional post asking if anyone has had eyes on this river or that. The response, thus far, has always been one word, Frozen. 2015 Isa Worlds Poynter and Gomez Take Gold for Us Sup Surf Team SUP Magazine - After the third day of SUP surfing competition in Sayulita, US SUP Team surfers Sean Poynter and Izzi Gomez are the official champions of the SUP Surfing competition at the 2015 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship. River Walkers unsponsored - Billed to be the next big thing WW SUP is on the rise. We have a few plans here at Unsponsored HQ that we'll share with the world in a couple of months time. Substantial Media House'S Juan and Only Canoe Kayak - Check out Substantial Media House's latest debut, Juan and Only, which captures Evan Garcia and crew's exploration of Peru last winter, highlighting runs throughout the Sacred Valley (of the Rio Urubamba) region as well as a descent of Abysmo section of the Rio Apurimac. US Coast Guard to Release Boating Safety App Canoe Kayak - The Coast Guard is scheduled to release its first boating safety App Saturday as the kickoff to this year's National Safe Boating Week. April 18th – Charlotte, NC Super Regional Event River Bassin Trail - After last year's fury of big fish stringers there was a lot expected from this year's River Bassin stop at Charlotte, NC. Especially with the date falling in late April, a prime time for catching big fish in the Carolinas. As typical of most fishing tournaments, everything is perfect leading up to the tournament. Weather and water levels were great, until the day before….how often does this seem to happen. Team Usa Take Stranglehold of Isa Worlds Leaderboard / Medal Table SUPracer - We've just wrapped up Day 5 of competition here at the ISA Worlds, with Team USA taking a stranglehold on the Team Champions Leaderboard thanks to Izzi Gomez and Sean Poynter crushing it in the surfing. Suws Top 3 Female Paddlers Waterman League - Women's Champion Lina Augaitis took the Paddle World by storm charging to the World Title in her first year on tour. The Canadian won her first race in #Stop2 in the heat in Abu Dhabi. Lunch on Cumberland Island Sea Kayak Stonington - I met John at the ramp. The previous evening, he'd bought a new-to-him Cetus and I'd suggested we try it out on a trip to Cumberland Island. With spring tides approaching, the max ebb out of the St Marys River was predicted to reach over three knots, so we had a bit of a push as we headed out the river. Keep the Results of Your Races in Perspective Larry Cain - Given that a few weeks ago we were at the biggest SUP race of the season at the Carolina Cup, that the ISA World Championships are this week, and that the summer racing season is almost upon us it seems like an appropriate time to take a look at dealing with race results and keeping them in perspective. I think we all need to be reminded from time to time that paddling is supposed to be fun.   If we're training to race, no matter what the level, we of course want to do well and are happy when we do ... The Advent of Everglades Summer Kayak Fishing the Everglades - There are a few brush fires burning now in Big Cypress Preserve which with the smoke have made for some really spectacular sunrises over the last week.
