News Watch Headlines South West Sea Kayaking Meet 2015 SW Sea Kayaking - Back in 2008, we held a 'book launch weekend' to celebrate the arrival of 'South West Sea Kayaking'. We did it again in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014. Purely for want of a name, it became the South West Sea Kayaking Meet. The weekend has been held in South Devon, and also on the Isle of Purbeck. Slalom Training Palm Blogs - In the beginning of April I was selected for the Dutch Slalom Team. I feel fortunate to be able to walk down the slalom road at the moment. I love the challenge in slalom and the diversification of the sport. I often feel like a total beater on the course, but yet that's what I love about slalom. Spring paddling in Norway Palm Blogs - I was luckily enough to jump on the Marine Juvet the other day to perfect waterlevels (around 30 cumecs) and amazing sunshine with clear blue skies! Unfortunately I forgot my camera that day, but the next day we decided to head up to the Myrkdalselvi optimistically hoping there wasn't too much snow on the banks so that we could get a cheeky lap in. New Haven (Ledges) A Wet State (CA) - Arriving at about 5 pm and with dinner plans at 6 and a 30 minute drive back to Fayston still ahead of us, we sent the note that we may be late to dinner with my college friend. Then as we turned around after missing the drive way into the take-out parking lot, another boater pulled up and new us by name. Looking for The Monks of Iona - Chapter 1 Tony Paradise - Saint Columba brought Catholicism to Scotland in the 6th century. He founded an abbey on Iona Island that became the center of Gaelic monasticism. On the Victoria Day weekend Brian, Dean, Terry and I went to look for traces of Columba. No Place Like Home Casting Tales - I've logged so many hours behind the wheel as of late I'm starting to feel like a truck driver. In the past two months I've fished from South Texas to South Florida. Irrespective of where I travel though, I still cherish the time I spend on my home waters around the Upper Texas Coast. Colorado River Basin Next Steps Clear as a Mountain Stream Am. Whitewater - Last week's release of the Colorado River Basin Study Moving Forward report prompted some good conversation about next steps, which isn't a moment too soon. Avex Sports' New Camo Products Kayak Angler Magazine - Spring fishing means the mornings are cold; almost winter-like cold. I always warm from the inside out by taking a thermos full of hot coffee with me, but fishing in the saltwater means that my coffee is a little too seasoned to my liking by the time I drink it. Sea Kayaking Diversity Adventurous Experiences - An enjoyable weekend paddling with the Adventure club Saturdays group consisted of those training for the IOM circumnavigation by kayak and the Adventure club trip to Norway this summer. Drop at our training river at Hong Zhou Tong Lu Water Village, China Jackson Kayak - Fun in China. This is a confession of sorts. I have always had Illusions of Grandeur about whitewater kayaking. I have always considered myself better than I really am. I love the sport and I do work very hard to learn the skills. I am a reasonably capable on Class IV if my skills are current with maybe 40+ runs on the Upper Youghiogheny, also Little etc. Looking for Mister Right. or Why I Need to Build Another Kayak homemade kayaks - New paddlers and even more experienced ones often ask which kayak should I buy, or if they are planning to build, ask which kayak should I build. The answer of course all depends on what kind of paddler are you or going to become. Powell River Regatta Trip Report Jackson Kayak - The Powell River Regatta was a great time on Saturday, 5/2/2015! It was a very well organized and friendly competition on a beautiful section of the Powell River near Tazewell, TN. Shuttle was provided, there was some tasty food at the finish line, I got the race day t-shirt and I met a lot of nice new people from the area. Finding Fair Haven Trash Paddler - Took a little journey up the Sudbury River this morning en route to Fairhaven Bay. Given the splendid conditions encountered at Nashawtuc Road Bridge it seemed a capital idea. Carpe Diem Log of Ibi - In other words, no matter how bad things look today, we need to put a smile on our faces, have a good time, or make like we're having a good time, and get on with it. This is the best day we have.
