News Watch Headlines Missisquoi and Trout River Declared 'Wild and Scenic' Canoe Kayak - The Upper Missisquoi and Trout Rivers are Vermont's first rivers to be added to the prestigious National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. On June 6, 2015, community members and partner groups will celebrate this recent designation with a dedication ceremony at The Abbey in Enosburg followed by a 6-mile group paddle along the Missisquoi River from Richford to East Berkshire. These events are free and the public is welcome to attend. 2015 Jr Pro & Youth SUP Fiesta World Paddle Association - SUP Fiesta 2015 was greeted with glassy 5 to 7 foot waves the morning of the contest. In its third year, this is the only SUP contest specifically for those age 17 and under. International Rivers - The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has plans to build the world's largest hydropower project, the Grand Inga at the Inga Falls, on the Congo River, some 50km upstream of the mouth of the Congo on the Atlantic coast. The Inga rapids and waterfalls give the Congo River a huge hydropower potential, which has been targeted by developers since the early part of the last century. Lower Mississippi River Resource Assessment American Rivers - Last month, the US Army Corps of Engineers released a draft report that evaluates community and ecosystem needs along the Lower Mississippi River (the river south of the Ohio River confluence) and is soliciting comments from the public until June 1. The Dirty Old Wedge SUPboarder - If any of you have seen the original 'Endless Summer' 1966 surf film you'll recognise the quote 'The Wedge. The dirty old Wedge.'
