Adrian Tregoning Adrian Tregoning: Dwars River – It's Days Like These, That Is The Reason I Kayak!
Dwars River – It's Days like these, that is the reason I kayak! It was a sunny Saturday morning and we were really amped. The Dwars River came with a serious reputation and I had inspected it first hand in summer (i.e. Ultra low) to see how it really looked and where the siphons were. For this mission I had decided to keep the group small.

Fluid Blog Fluid Blog: Umzimkulu Mission
The Umzimkulu River is one of the major rivers in KwaZulu-Natal, starting way up in the Drakensberg mountains in the Under berg area. It picks up a number of tributaries along the way before spilling the liquid stuff into the ocean at Port Shep stone.

PeakUK US PeakUK US: Desperation Run
Bendonians understand that Lava and Dillon run during the winter, along with Riverhouse. Most of us don't even consider running Meadowcamp because it is pretty dang low. In general we run it in the summer at 1900 cfs but in the winter it doesnt have more that 600 cfs flowing through it. Today we decided to be really stubborn and were really desperate to get on something locally that wasn't Riverhouse....this meant a low water Lava down to Meadowcamp.

Potomac Paddlesports Potomac Paddlesports: December 26, 2008 - The Delaware Water Gap
All I really wanted for Christmas was some good creaking, so when Sam Burk told me the Water Gap was running I shook off the hangover I incurred on Christmas day and woke up at 4:45 AM to meet him in Baltimore. His enthusiasm is contagious. We added Brenten Petrillo in York, and made our way to the Gap where we joined forces with Jeff Ackerman, Art Barket, Aaron, Garen, and Scott (whose last names I didn't catch).

Jackson Kayak Jackson Kayak: Cane Creek On A Weekend
With the slow and steady rains the pump was finally primed to fill up the caves and keep Cane Creek flowing days after the last rain.

PeakUK US PeakUK US: Doe In The Snow
The South is back in business. Inches of rain fell on WNC and East Tennessee this week, bringing rivers to levels not seen in years. I drove through creeks to get to the Doe, and found it at a raging 4200 cfs. We put on and made it about half way down the river before calling it quits. It was way too high.

rockratrobinson rockratrobinson: Catching The Morning Run Off
oday's boating came about through one simple text message sent to four kayakers living around the Penrith area. Two replied; one wasn't in the area, but knew of people heading out, and the other was game.

Potomac Paddlesports Potomac Paddlesports: 2008 Review
Happy New Year all! I thought I'd start off 2009 by quickly reminiscing on 2008, boy what a great year! Here's a quick recap of what I did this past year, some favorite moments, and associated trips (click on the photos) by season. This past fall i started grad school: MS in Environmental Management.

Team Marginal Team Marginal: The Road Goes On Forever... And The Party Never Ends
The whitewater can only be described as perfect. With classic big wave trains, play spots, and even some pretty stout big water I felt I had, for myself, discovered a place I will return to for the rest of my life.

playak.net playak.net: Running For Cape Horn
The Vendee hs been going well for me lately and I have cleared the final ice gate and am now making 24 knots an hour bound for cape Horn. The horn will be my final turning point as I cross back into the Atlantic Ocean and the final 6,000 miles or so back to the start line. I have been racing now since mid November and have covered 16,000 miles of ocean without leaving home...

Mt. Hood H2O Mt. Hood H2O: Hagen/nw Fork/washougal
The water shoved me down and shot me back up clear of the slot, Matt said my boat came completely out of the water and pitoned a rock four feet out of the water! I rolled up no worse for wear with the conclusion that anyone who has a reliable roll can run this very intimidating drop.
