Team LiquidLogic Team LiquidLogic: Winterdream: Teufelsschlucht of the Saalach in Austria
"The level is low, but the sun is shining…we go kayaking…". My buddies were not very enthusiastic when I called them, which isn't astonishing when it is 26°F / -3°C outside, but once on, the river Saalach was really enjoyable.
playak.tv playak.tv: Middle Palguin Stout
Running the stout ten boof into The Middle Palguin waterfall. Bryan Kirk had his go pro head cam on while he was snapping off some sick photos and got a cool shot of me airing out a massive boof!
Rafting Life Rafting Life: Upper Browns River
There are three drops near the top and then 6kms of fairly continuous class 3 - 3+. After switching to play boats we headed on down stream running the small falls on the Browns before meeting up with the high water puntledge.
Kokatat Blog Kokatat Blog: Taylor Cote Paddling in the whitewater paradise of Chile
Kokatat Ambassador Taylor Cote is having tons of fun on the Palguin River: "Scraping down the steep hill, making sure I'm keeping up with the person in front. We get closer and closer to the most exciting part of this whole hike, the put-in. There's a land bridge you get to walk over a mossy little nature bridge you can peer over into the water, careful not to drop your boat though! After that, there's also the fun seal launch; it can be a bit nerve-racking, because after you create your big splash you look up and realize you have just dropped into gorge, a beautiful one at that.
homemade kayaks homemade kayaks: Down to the dead sea
Every year we have a trip to paddle on the Dead Sea. In fact the Hebrew name is the Sea of Salt, and not the Dead Sea. This year was no exception, yesterday we made our way down below sea level, about 400m below, to Mineral beach, and set off for an easy paddle on the salty oily water.
Immersion Research Immersion Research: Valerie Checks in from Norway!
When we got there, we were only faced to more snow and minus degrees. The second morning when we woke up in the humid and cold van, 10cm of fresh snow covered our gear that was hanging outside. I remember crying 3 times within the first 2 hours, warming my fingers under my tears, trying to get a little life despite the numbness. On the third day, after another cold night in the wet van and more fresh snow, we decided that it was time to have a last session before heading up again. 12 hours later and a long part in a snow storm in a convoy on the mountain plateau, we were home sweet home again.
PeakUK PeakUK: Viking Mid-Season Review
As impressive as the team's home form is, they are constantly looking to improve and make more of an impression in Europe, with a major goal of winning the European Club Championship in September. Having already defeated several of Europe's top teams Viking A are looking to improve their consistency, this is a must if they are to win major competitions.
CKS Squad CKS Squad: Pre-season salt river trip
Not sure why I had never been on this river before, I was determined to get on it this year. After a hectic job working at the NM legislative session for 35 days straight, I rallied a few friends and we headed out to do a pre-permit wilderness run of the Salt.
ICF ICF: Helen Skelton's Amazon Adventure
"Six weeks, six days per week, 60 miles per day," it's enough to put the fear into any experienced marathon paddler, but Children's TV presenter, Helen Skelton managed this amazing feat with practically no kayak experience at all and she didn't capsize once. Raising money and awareness in one of the UK's biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief, Helen's achievement may make the history books for the longest solo journey by kayak and the longest distance in a kayak in 24 hours by a woman – both are awaiting a rubber stamp by Guinness.
