Playak News Flash - December 8, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Gene17 Tamur Adventure 2010
Gene17 - I had been dreaming of visiting Nepal since I was a child watching National Geographic programmes in the 70s. I had also never been on a multiday self supported kayaking trip before. So for me this was a great adventure and it did not disappoint. With Matt and Jakub's experience in leading expeditions I was in good hands.
Playak Fluid Big Bang
Playak - The Big Bang is our evolutionary creek boat / expedition kayak capable of handing class 5 creeks yet at the same time having ample speed for long hauls and enough packing space for extended periods in the wild.
CKS Blog Peru 2010: First Descent of the Huallaga. Trip Report, Part 1
CKS Blog - Sometime in the early summer Nate Klema mentioned to me that Matt Wilson was interested in a trip to South America in the fall, Peru in particular. After some initial hesitation I decided that I was interested, only to find out a little later the true extent of what Matt had planned. The main river Matt had in his sites was the Rio Huallaga through the great bend or Pongo De Aggiure as the gorge is known locally.
Team LiquidLogic Wet Dreams Finale: Korg 3.0 Benefit
Team LiquidLogic - After everything that could possibly go wrong does and you still have a successful event, well that would be the story of the Wet Dreams and HAYMAKER tour.
worldkayak blogs Wet Season Wake Up Cairns 2010
worldkayak blogs - Thirty One keen boaters rocked up to the Barron gorge on Saturday morning with a colourful array of plastic strapped to the roof of their cars ready to get wet and see who the fastest paddler in Far North Queensland was. There where competitors from Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, NSW and VIC, and they were all keen to take out first place in the first annual wet season wake up.
A whole bunch of Ing's Bon Echo. Mazinaw rock Pictographs
A whole bunch of Ing's - Sheer pain. My wife decided that coming in to give me a morning hug (as I awoke) that she would jam her index finger and her 1/2 inch vestigial remains of our wild past directly into my opening eye. "WHAT THE FUCK!" …..My first words uttered today. A fantastic start. I felt my eye touch the back of the socket. Good morning indeed.
Jackson Kayak Rain in the South East = Greeter Falls
Jackson Kayak - This past week we got 3 inches of rain here in Rock Island. Though it wasn't just us, the entire South Eastern United States got slammed. Everything thing was running, and the question was where do we go?
RJimlad, New South Wales Some Kayaks for bigger blokes
RJimlad, New South Wales - There are hundreds of boats out there as everyone knows. Among these are boats you read about that take your fancy and you think how you'd love to paddle them. There are times when you get to do just that. At Klanocopia and Rock 'n' Roll we get the opportunity to do this. Paddling in a klan of around fifty paddlers also gives you a chance to swap boats. The problem is that once you get over a certain size you don't fit in too many.
Go Kayak Now Is Maligiaq the best kayaker in the world?
Go Kayak Now - I read an article in the latest print edition of Canoe and Kayaker magazine. The seeming hyperbole of the headline of the article in the magazine read, "Maligiaq, the best kayaker in the world." Is that hyperbole? The article was about the traditional kayaking renaissance that Maligiaq led as its most prominent athlete in the Greenland Games throughout the early 2000s.
