Roaring Fork Kayakers Chile! Rio Claro and Pucon
Roaring Fork Kayakers - Well I have made it to chile after lots and lots of traveling. I cant express how much i love it down here. It is an incredibly beautiful country and has of course some of the best kayaking in the world. We arrived after 10 hours of flying, then spent ALL DAY sitting at a bus station in santiago awaiting a bus down to pucon.
Playak Fluid Detox S
Playak - For kayakers who want a creekboat with a playboat hull; for kayakers who want to run rivers and play on the way down; for kayakers who want an easy boat to learn to kayak - there has never been a better-suited kayak than the Detox.
New River Academy Another NRA first D
New River Academy - El Rio Turbio, where to begin. Maybe the fact that I almost passed out as I watched Evan Garcia walk by me and then go do a gnar waterfall and slide while I sat and took pictures. Or maybe it is that I completely killed it at creeking. Lets get back to Demshitz for now. Yws that is right we all stood in awe as we watched the people we aspire to become, like in the kayaking realm of life, drop insane stuff and cheer us on when we get ready to do our run. Alright now that I got that excitement out of the way it is time to talk about the river.
Dave Goadby Its melting…Fun on the upper Swale
Dave Goadby - With a brief respite in the freezing temperatures the rivers in the North East looked as though may have some water in. We made the journey across the pennies, but with 1 metre snow drifts at the side of the road I wasn't very optimistic. However when we arrived at Wain Wath Force we were pleased to see a nice level on the Swale.
New River Academy Doing what the pros do, the Nevados
New River Academy - A few days ago, New River Academy took some of its more advanced students to do one of the more challenging runs of the year: the Nevados. This run is a good sized creek with a few twenty foot drops on it, that take skill and quick thinking to hit the lines, but have very few, if any consequences. Below our takeout is a different story. The Lower Nevados is an extremely hard run with some serious drops, including the infamous Demshitz drop; a ten foot boof into a fifty foot drop that reconnects halfway though. There's no need to worry though, we didn't even come close to these drops. We stuck with the Upper Nevados, a solid class V run that while only about a mile long, offers tons of fun.
CackleTV Testing, Testing!
CackleTV - This weekend, Barry and I paddled joined Kev, Gill, Chris & Matt for a paddle down the Menai Straits and an overnight camp at Aber Menai Point. Although, the snow on the Welsh mountains has largely melted it was still a frosty cold night, so was a good chance for Barry and I to test out some of the kit that we're planing to take to Tierra del Fuego.
Tony Paradise On the eve of winter (1)
Tony Paradise - Clyde, Dean, Hazen and I had an eve of winter paddle on Sunday from Colliers to Brigus and back. While its not officially winter until next weekend, it felt winter-like as the temperature at put-in was abut-5C. In the absence of wind it wasn't uncomfortable dressing and we were soon on our way generating heat with the paddles.
worldkayak blogs Pool session # 3
worldkayak blogs - Today, we left early anticipating bad roads with all the freezing rain that was falling but it had warmed up just in time for us and the roads were mostly wet and not too bad at all. I was still told that I was driving a bit too slow but the speed was ok with me.
Adventurous Experiences A fat yawning seal pup...
Adventurous Experiences - Sunday's Adventure Club sea kayak trips set out from Port Erin beach - a relaxed meandering paddle for the Beginners and Improver group, while the Intermediates headed right round the Calf of Man!
