Fluid Blog Big Air at the M Wave
Fluid Blog - Finally after an arduous process of looking at some 2,000 photos taken at the M-Wave this Fall, Leif picked out around one hundred of the best photos and posted them on our blog. Of those hundred, I picked out some of my favorites for your enjoyment. The photos really speak for themselves, this in definitely one of the best waves in the world and can dish up some big air and some big wipeouts! For our fellow M-wave enthusiasts, see you next Fall!
LiquidLore Class IV Classics: Upper Gordon
LiquidLore - e're back after a long holiday break to spread the whitewater love! After a tough deliberation we sent the LL staff home for a month to enjoy the festive season and recuperate from a hard year of bloggin' and paddling all kinds of sweet whitewater. Yeah right.... in reality, winter makes for slow kayak blog writing and although we are sitting on a fair number of new runs to scribble about, they usually just get posted up without a .blogspot companion lately.
Level 6 Looking Back…
Level 6 - Besides the title being a song from Keane it is also good to look back at a year and think what you have done, and appreciating the great times you had. In 2010 quite a lot changed, maybe not always the way I wanted but choices are made and you have to live with it. I didn't travel, explore and paddle as much as I wanted, but study has had the priority to finish as quickly as possible. This opens opportunities after my bachelors quicker is my idea, let's hope it's true.
Class IV Winter steelhead
Class IV - ith the Japanese house mostly complete, I found myself looking for a way to celebrate the festive season. My focus seized upon perhaps the most innapropriate of targets for those looking to actually enjoys the holidays, the winter Steelhead. To this date I'd caught precisely one steelhead in three years of trying, my season being a predictable arc of hope, frustration, and ultimately dissilusionment. Why I would choose this as a 'reward' must speak to some personality defect that I'd rather not reflect upon for too long. Essentially a giant mutant sea running trout, Steelhead look like salmon and grow big like salmon, but unlike salmon, they refuse to die after spawning.
A whole bunch of Ing's Lost steamships and locks on the Ottawa river
A whole bunch of Ing's - My conversation with Allan last week brought up some interesting history. We were discussing the beautiful area of Chenal du Culbute, and he inquired if I had seen the locks. I had never heard of it!!Hitting the books that he provided me I was very excited to see it`s location; and that on google earth you could still pick it out!! I`ve been within 100m of this and never noticed it before. The secrets this river holds!
SherriKayaks Know the Differences Between Kayak Types
SherriKayaks - It's getting to be the time of year when those who are planning to buy a kayak for the 2011 paddling season need to be doing research for their upcoming purchases. Laacke & Joys usually starts having kayak sales during the Milwaukee Boat Show in January, and Canoecopia will be coming up in Madison on March 11-13.
BaffinPaddler Newfound Lake, New Hampshire. But the tourist brochure said pristine and no commercial development!
BaffinPaddler - I should have known not to believe it when the tourist brochure said "Newfound Lake is pristine and has no commercial development." I came through the city of Bristol, to the southern-most beach and said, "Oh s*#t!"
