Playak Take the Playak Survey, win some schwag!
Playak (Monday 10th) ***** - I always put a lot of time into creating new Playak services, and this year I urgently need some help from you, the Playak users.
Immersion Research This just in- World Record Waterfall Descent
Immersion Research (Thursday 13th) **** - Brought to you by Fred Norquist, Evan Garcia, Logan Grayling and Anton Immler. You will notice Anton putting his trust in one of our Double D Drysuits while executing this amazing feat. We would also like to note, that the Double D has officially passed the dryness test against more than just H2O, we can now add vodka & redbull to the list!
Chris Baer Chirripo Pacifio huck fest
Chris Baer (Wednesday 12th) *** - La Perla is a 50 + foot drop that starts with a tricky slide into a 30 foot vertical drop. Todd and I had this gem in our sights for the last 3 weeks. We had been keeping ourselves busy with other adventures but today it was time to pluck this first descent. The drop is just a short hike up the hill from Casa Mariposa, (the hostel I have been home basing out of). After scouting the beast one more time there was little hesitation in running such a magnificent drop.
Fluid Blog Big Air at the M Wave
Fluid Blog (Tuesday 11th) ** - Finally after an arduous process of looking at some 2,000 photos taken at the M-Wave this Fall, Leif picked out around one hundred of the best photos and posted them on our blog. Of those hundred, I picked out some of my favorites for your enjoyment. The photos really speak for themselves, this in definitely one of the best waves in the world and can dish up some big air and some big wipeouts! For our fellow M-wave enthusiasts, see you next Fall!
Wavesport Blogs Season's End II and Photo Yearbook
Wavesport Blogs (Saturday 8th) ** - A few years back I concluded my season with a highlight reel aptly named "Season's End." While traveling and training with my close friend Brad McMillan this past fall we were shooting quite a bit of footage and with all the footage I shot throughout the season, I liked the idea of revisiting this video concept. Unfortunately I experienced a hard drive crash while editing this video and it was put on the back burner for a bit.
Jackson Kayak Rockstar Rock Island surfing photos
Jackson Kayak (Sunday 9th) ** - Some photos of Owen, Emily, and I surfing Rock Island today. Good fun! Fortunately (for us, but not for him) Clay's all gimpified from running the gnar. So he volunteered to shoot photos for us :)
worldkayak blogs Snowy playboating in Rock Island
worldkayak blogs (Wednesday 12th) ** - We received 5 inches of snow here in Rock Island on Sunday Night. Roads weren't plowed, schools are closed everywhere, and I spent a lot of time crying and wishing for warmer climates. It was, however, a good day to go kayak! We had to park at the top of the hill and walk in due to ice and snow.
Jackson Kayak Mexico: New Hero Rocks!
Jackson Kayak (Tuesday 11th) ** - I have been paddling the Villain S for the past year, and I have been absolutely loving it. So naturally I was fired up to be able to borrow a Villain S while down in Mexico.
Immersion Research That's right! Ice… man. I am dangerous
Immersion Research (Thursday 13th) ** - In hopes of making the 11th Iceman Championships slightly more comfortable for a few folks I traveled to Columbia SC with a fleet of IR's newest Drysuits. The following photos journal the exciting day.
Todd Wells First Descent: Upper Rio Savegre
Todd Wells (Saturday 8th) ** - The Rio Savegre lies in the bottom of one of Costa Rica's most beautiful valleys and also has some incredibly fun class IV-V whitewater. Ferdinand Steinvorth, Chris Baer, and I had just got off the upper section of the Rio Division and were set on, after a good night's sleep, hiking 11 km.
Fluid Blog High Water = Novelty Runs
Fluid Blog (Friday 7th) ** - With the Northwest getting hammered with rain and the rivers smoking high, it was time to turn to novelty runs. First up was Major Creek, a tiny little creek with several narrow gorges and lined with think vegetation on the Washington side of the gorge.
Wavesport Blogs Manns Creek - The Real Deal
Wavesport Blogs (Friday 7th) ** - When most people talk about running Manns Creek in WV, they almost always refer to running Glade Creek to the confluence of Manns Creek and continuing down to the New River. This in itself is arguably the best all-around, most 'classic' West Virginia creek.
the nile progression Nile Kayaking Festival 2010 - Round Up
the nile progression (Saturday 8th) ** - Well like a snowboarding movie once said - 'That's it that's all'. The Nile Kayaking Festival 2010 is over. Gone, finished for another year. But not before I do a quick round up for you folks with some results and photos.
Leif and Natalie The Lower New
Leif and Natalie (Wednesday 12th) ** - As the end of last semester came to a close, Leif and I decided to leave behind to snow and ice laden streams of Colorado to seek warmer environs in the North Coast.
Wavesport Blogs December to Remember
Wavesport Blogs (Saturday 8th) ** - The huge storms of December, 2010 gave me one big problem: how to dry gear? It just kept raining down low and snowing up high. I saw the biggest flows since I moved to CA in 2007. I got a streak of 7 straight days on the water. It was good. This video shows a ride at the Gay Wave on the Conflue...
