Playak Corran Addison Returns to Riot Kayaks
Playak - In a move that seems somehow reminiscent of Steve Jobs returning to Apple, so Corran Addison returns to Riot kayaks. Riot, the company he co-founded in 1997, is now owned by Kayak Distribution, which also has brands like Boreal Design, Seaward, and Trapper in its varied offerings. During Corran's time at Riot, he was one of the industry leaders, spearheading both the design revolution, and how kayaks were marketed and paddled.
Playak Q&A with Corran Addison about his homecoming to Riot
Playak - I caught up with Corran Addison for a quick Q&A about his homecoming to Riot Kayaks. More details about the move are available in this press release.
Jackson Kayak The Jackson Zen Steve'S Take
Jackson Kayak - I was recently at the Jackson household when Dane arrived with something shiny . Naturally I was immediately drawn to it, but when I discovered that it was the updated Zen, I couldn't take my eyes off of it .
SUP Okanagan Best of Stand Up in 2010
SUP Okanagan - Only one year ago in most parts of Canada, Stand Up Paddling was just that sport that I saw in Hawaii or Saw in a magazine and now it's quickly become the worlds fastest growing water sport From coast-to-coast, paddlesurfing, on the lakes, rivers and beyond.
SUP Magazine North American SUP Destination: Jupiter, Florida
SUP Magazine - Jupiter is on the mainland but it feels like an island town. The people who grew up here have this laid back way of life. They eat, breath and live in the water. If there's a swell, everything shuts down.
Leif and Natalie Northwest Territories Waterfall Tour
Leif and Natalie - This week's quest was simple: investigate the mythical waterfalls on the many creeks surrounding the Great Slave Lake. These waterfalls are caused by isostatic rebound. The thick ice sheet laying over the continent during the ice age was heavy enough to depress the earth's crust around the Great Slave Lake. After it melted, the crust rebounded upward. The process of rebound continues today.
unsponsored Ben Marr and LP Rivest Beatdown At Bridge Rapid
unsponsored - Here's Ben Marr and myself going down bridge rapid in Dolbeau-Mistassini. It was my 3rd descent. The water was very high and the line juicy and technical.
SUP Okanagan River Sup on The Shuswap River Ii
SUP Okanagan - The new frontier in SUP. We just can't get enough of it. After a taste of the running the Skookumchuck rapids on Shuswap River near Mabel Lake, BC, we decided to head back in warmer weather and give the 'chucks' near Kingfisher another go.
Kokatat Blog The Playboating Bible
Kokatat Blog - Looping is one of those moves that anyone who ever starts to freestyle kayak wants to learn as their first move. It's a great move that is very dynamic, but is not actually that hard if you break it down. The key difference between a good loop and a great loop is timing and this will come with practice.
Jackson Kayak Touring Fontana Lake
Jackson Kayak - One of the best ways to view the Great Smoky Mountains is from the water. The reflection of the trees and mountain ridges off the pristine water is a spectacular sight. One of the most scenic bodies of water we have here in Western North Carolina is Fontana Lake, and I have the pleasure of sharing it via Jackson Kayak with sightseers and fisherman year round through my guide service, Fontana Guides.
Savannah Canoe and Kayak Traditional Kayak Workshop Fall 2014
Savannah Canoe and Kayak - This year's Traditional Kayak Building Workshop was another great experience for all involved. Once again we flew in master boat builder Brian Schulz of Cape Falcon Kayaks in Oregon to conduct this one-of-a-kind workshop.
Chris Wing Making Cents Out of Buying Used Gear
Chris Wing - When I first got into kayaking in 2002, I made the mistake that many beginners do: I walked into a retail store and bought a brand new boat, helmet, PFD, spray skirt, paddle, and other miscellaneous accessories.
Simon Wyndham Pyranha 9R Review
Simon Wyndham - Creek racing has become very popular in the last few years. With many paddlers feeling that slalom isn't exciting enough, or perhaps falling too far away from grass roots recreational paddling, creek racing has now taken on a life of its own. This is due in no small part to the fact that it is accessible to everyone.
