Rob Casey 5 Tips for Keeping a Paddling Biz Open in Winter
Rob Casey - Most paddling and surfing shops here in the Pacific NW have either shut down for the winter or are on limited hours. Now that its getting dark at 5 pm, it's impossible to hold evening classes. But when there is daylight, many experienced paddlers are still going.
American Rivers Rivers Divide Us?
American Rivers - At American Rivers, our slogan is Rivers Connect Us, to one another and to nature. But recently, as I paddled with a small group of friends in canoes 80 miles down the Rio Grande through Big Bend National Park, where the river forms the border between the United States and Mexico, I reflected on how the river is also a dividing line.

Canoe Kayak Winter Is Coming Rush Sturges on Spirit Falls
Canoe Kayak - The 33-foot Sprit Falls on Washington's Little White Salmon River is as iconic as waterfalls get to whitewater kayakers. To many, paddling the Little White and cleanly running Sprit is a mark of having "made it" to the status of Class V boater. But once the days start to shorten and icicles form along its edges, the river sees less traffic. The exception, of course, being Rush Sturges who's rarely deterred by the cold.
Rob Casey Cool Deck Bag for SUPs or Kayaks
Rob Casey - Most SUP'ers get into the sport because they want to do things simply. Many paddlers we see have a board, paddle and bikini or swimming trunks, not much else. But the Pacific Northwest packs a surprise every sunny summer afternoon.
