Kokatat Blog Canadian Big Waves Came Early This Fall
Kokatat Blog - The season on the river is pretty special; there are three noticeable differences. There are way less people. This means you can often run the river or surf for hours without seeing another person, which can be a nice change after a busy summer. Change number two is that it gets cold.
Nikki Rekman Taking Your Retail Business to the Next Level
Nikki Rekman - During my time repping, south of the border, I saw a big difference between the retail market in the Western USA and Western Canada. We were lagging behind a bit up here but I am happy to report that a few of my larger dealers are investing with their dollars in the on line sales world.
GrindTV On-Water Kayaker gets swallowed by a whirlpool
GrindTV On-Water - Kayaker Juanito de Ugarte is about to get swallowed by a whirlpool. Photo is a screen grab from the video It isn't called Butcher's Knife Rapid for nothing. The menacing whitewater of the Ottawa River might not cut up kayakers, but it proved with professional kayaker Juanito de Ugarte that it can swallow you whole and spit you out.
Jackson Kayak Clay's 2014 Green Race: Just the action shots!
Jackson Kayak - With the sunken heart of missing the race due to injury I set up my camera on river right and got set to watch the show.  Within minutes I was stoked to be there! From the first moment of watching Pat Keller swing his bow in just in time to the heart-ache of Hunt Jennings spinning into the speed trap I recognized instantly this was truly a sporting event I could enjoy...
Mike Dawson Red Bull Defiance
Mike Dawson - Thick cloud covered the south island of New Zealand as the little planedescended through the weather front into the unknown. It was symbolic of the weekend I was preparing for - the Red Bull Defiance.
Rapid Media Exclusive New Adventure Kayak Skills Videos
Rapid Media - In between shoots, James Roberts is sweeping drifts of colorful leaves from the cedar deck overlooking Ontario Sea Kayak Centre's (OSKC) waterfront on the Seguin River. His breath condenses in puffs of vapor in the sub-zero morning air.
Jackson Kayak Heavy Rains Make Rock Island a Whitewater Paradise
Jackson Kayak - While Rock Island is always awesome this time of year, having 4" of rain over 5 days makes it even more special. The water shot up to 30,000 CFS and is now hovering at a super fun 5,500 CFS.
Rob Casey Kayak Retrofit Update
Rob Casey - In late summer, I asked my neighbor Todd, a Werner/Jackson pro kayak fisherman and kayak/sup repair guy, to cut the top off my $4k sea kayak. Focused mainly on sup since 2010, I've been wanting to take the kayak out but haven't kept my eskimo rolling skills up to par.
International Rivers Defying Brazilian Government, Indigenous Group Demarcates Amazonian Territory
International Rivers - In response to the Rousseff government's failure to recognize indigenous rights to lands scheduled for flooding by two megadam projects, the Munduruku people have taken the extraordinary measure to demarcate their own territory.
Kokatat Blog Guide Training in Baja
Kokatat Blog - What a start for the year! I've got an invitation to work on some guide training with Baja Outdoor Adventures in La Paz, Mexico. The weather in the UK was pretty dire, so to be in shorts and a t-shirt in warm waters within 12 hours was a real treat.
Palm Blogs Long term FXr review
Palm Blogs - Palm brought the FXr into production in January this year, and I've been using it almost every day since then. The cut is taken directly from the FX which has been my buoyancy aid of choice for the past three years with some extra features to help keep you safe on the river.
Jackson Kayak Class V and Understanding Risk
Jackson Kayak - In kayaking, every class is seen as different. There are easier rapids, class I, all the way the most burly thing that you could ever even conceivably run (5.9). In theory, every decimal change in class V is about the same as, say class III to class IV. The problem here is that it leads many class V's to be underestimated as simply being an "easy V". The fact is, even if its the easiest class V in the world, it's still class V for a reason, and can presumably dole out a beating.
Canoe Kayak New Video Captures the Sounds of Canoe Tripping
Canoe Kayak - Imagine a canoe trip in the Pacific Northwest. It's not hard, but most of us will want to bring some kind of image to mind — reflective water, wind-shaped evergreen trees, giant ferns, probably some rain. Few of us will immediately think about the sounds of a wilderness paddling expedition.
Rapid Magazine Blog Paddling With Camera Gear
Rapid Magazine Blog - To be a great whitewater kayak photographer you must be a participant in the sport as well. Due to the nature of kayaking the isolation of rivers photographers must paddle to remote locations, carrying with them all the gear they need to ensure evocative images make their way into magazine and onto screens.
