News Watch Headlines Chasing the Sun in Fairhaven Bay Trash Paddler - Yesterday was another exceptional late summer day 'round these parts. I'd paddled up the Sudbury River from Lowell Road to Fairhaven Bay when I saw the sun was unusually low on the far side of the bay. As I approached, it rose up and drifted 10 yards to the east. ( Just to be sure it was what I thought it was, I exited my boat and approached the shore where I managed to capture, not only the sun but, 3 nice ears of Indian corn... Payette River Games put on hold for next year SUP Magazine - In what can only be described as a major bummer, the Payette River Games, one of the biggest, best and most beloved SUP races on the calendar, has been put on hold and may not return in 2016. The PRGs team has made the call of not undertaking to host the event next year due to finding no suitable sponsors for this world class event. However, Mark and Kristina have offered free use of their host venue, Kelly's Whitewater Park in Cascade, Idaho, to any group that wants to organize a river race next year... A Year in the Wilderness: a BWCA Adventure PaddlingLight - Amy and Dave Freeman, 2014 National Geographic Adventurers of the Year are going to live inside the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA), a million acre wilderness and America's most popular wilderness area, for an entire year. BWCA and Lake Superior are two of the best paddling destinations in the United States. One major reason they are doing this is preservation of the area that is under threat because of mining. 2016 Payette River Games Off SUP Magazine - The past three year of the Payette River Games have been a blur of good times and stiff competition. Hopefully this isn't the last we'll hear of PRGs. How to Rock The Gauley Festival: Step 2 – Play Hard Jackson Kayak - Boat raffles, AW silent auction, videos music and drinking are all at the festival but let's face it, you're not driving all this way for the night-life! The shining star of the Gauley Festival is the Gauley River but West Virginia in Fall is simply one of the greatest places in the world to be. Getting out of Your Comfort Zone Jackson Kayak - I was recently given the opportunity to fish with Chad Hoover and Ron Champion in Tennessee. When you open your mind up to someone else's way of doing things and take your own thoughts out of the equation, it is amazing how different techniques suddenly make more sense. While I have thought that trolling was more of a salt water thing, Ron quickly educated me otherwise... Trying out boats at Canoe and Kayak's Paddlefest SquareRock - So last weekend was the Paddle Fest at Cardiff White Water Center run by Canoe and Kayak Store. I headed up from Cornwall to help run the Squarerock stall as Aaron was in Canada for The Worlds Freestyle. It was a great event where there was an opportunity to try out the full range of boats from Jackson and other brands. There was live music, a freestyle competition and ducky race. Moustash Fest 2015: a Bewhiskered Paddler'S Recap Fluid - So Ash fest 2015 was lekker! About 30 paddlers all together, that with a biting cold front and a bunch of paddlers from the republic in Norway. Back in the Boat Fluid - My disability wasn't one of those tragic overnight events, but the effects were no less traumatic. In a period of a few months I deteriorated from painful hobbling, to crutches and finally my wheelchair. I was only about 41 at the time with two young boys and toddler daughter. Although it has been a while since I last wrote on the subject, nothing since has made me change my way of thinking. Everyone needs to find a gear that works best for them, given their own individual fitness strengths and weaknesses. They should also develop a range of gears they are comfortable using for various situations they are likely to encounter. What has happened since I last wrote about gears ... 2015 Wpa Scholastic Sup Race Series Championships- Big Bear Paddlefest World Paddle Association - The WPA Scholastic SUP Race Series Championships will be conducted at the Big Bear PaddleFest this Saturday, September 19, 2015.  The Big Bear PaddleFest will also serve as a Salt Life Cup points race for those who enter in the 10k race and 10k Scholastic Varsity/Div 1 race.  The 2.5k kids race will serve as the 2015 Salt Life Cup Standings World Paddle Association - The 2015 Salt Life Cup WPA National race series standings have been updated as of the Naish Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge (8-24-15) and posted on the below attachments for both Men 14′ and Women 12'6 divisions.
