Playak News Flash - September 8, 2015
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Canoe Kayak Freestyle Finals a Family Affair
Canoe Kayak - The sun rose this morning on the most exciting day for all, finals day! The Garb was up early and seemed hungry as usual as all our classes, save squirt, complete today for the medals. If yesterday's semi finals were any indication, the action and accompanying pressure should be intense. With everything at stake and a 3-ride, one counts format, we look for ride scores to soar. The OC1 boaters were the first to stare into the wave and meet the cheers from an already packed house. Current World Champion Jordan Poffenberger the early favourite was up against his US teammates, Dane Jackson and Brad McMillan. Rounding off the field was Canadian Andrew Hill and German Jonas Unterberg...
Jackson Kayak When to Grind and When to Adjust.
Jackson Kayak - Sometimes bass fishing is an adrenaline filled whack-fest with constant action and everything seems to work. My last trip was an absolute slaughter house with big small mouth choking swim baits and probably a 20# best five bag over two days.
Brittany Parker Whats with The Boardshorts Over The Wetsuit?
Brittany Parker - This is a question us inland stand up paddlers hear all the time, primarily from the surfing community. We feel naked without our board shorts on and feel like a dweeb without them as much as many think we look like wearing them.
homemade kayaks Beauty, Is Really in The Eye of The Beholder
homemade kayaks -  In my mind a kayak is a thing of beauty. No matter the condition, be it brand new without a scratch or old and battered from years of use. Skin on frame or wood stripped, the natural lines, the sweeping bow, they all grip my imagination  and take me to the sea.
Kayak N.Ireland The Shimna - The Whole Thing
Kayak N.Ireland - After twice having to walk away from the shimna due to extra high conditions we finally got to run it. Water levels were good no scrapes over rocks until the end but for real adrenaline fuelled action they could have been a wee bit higher. This was evident in the main Tollymore section as the level had dropped and we had to portage two incredibly sore looking constrictions.

Steve Gibson New Fishing Opportunities
Steve Gibson - With the recent move into our new home/neighborhood came some new fishing opportunities. The neighborhood has a few parks and golf coarse ponds that seem to be very well stocked with fish. Our first trip to the main pond was a success. We fished from shore catching many large mouth bass.
Steve Gibson Sarasota Bay Night Ops
Steve Gibson - The evening started off a bit slow. We were fishing the pass on the incoming tide just before dark with live bait. We missed a couple fish with some break offs in the dock. Rory started off the evening with his normal trash can slam.
SquareRock 2016 Jackson Kayak Rockstar – Team Review
SquareRock - A few weeks ago, I received the very exciting news that Jackson's latest weapon, the 2016 Jackson Kayak Rockstar, was finally in the UK. Shortly after going to pick mine up, I was able to try it out on flatwater, then head to Cardiff (CIWW) two days later for its first proper test run.
Jackson Kayak Easy Cuda Kayak Blind – Part 1
Jackson Kayak - With kayak hunting becoming ever more popular, especially waterfowl hunting, a way to conceal from the birds on a kayak is extremely important. There are several blind setups out on the market, but for those that would rather make one for themselves, this is a simple blanket style setup for the Cuda series from Jackson kayak that, can be done in an afternoon.

They all add a different feel for the rider and come in different sizes. But this has to be one of the biggest tidal race SUP waves we've seen. Spencer Lacy has set the bar high with this one. If you have seen a bigger tidal race or river wave SUPed then let us know, or is this it?
