CKS Squad Hamma Hamma Falls
CKS Squad - This spring Evan Garcia, Pat Keller and Candace Sanders rolled up to the northwest on an epic stouting mission. They called me up and told me to meet them out on the OP to check out Hamma Hamma Falls, first descented by Todd Gillman a couple years back. The falls is a stout 20 footer into a 60 footer. Its stout. Pat ran first and killed it, Evan ran next and styled it as well.
Go Kayak Now Sea Kayaking South Manitou in a day
Go Kayak Now - It's 8am on Cannery Beach, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It's me, a chain smoking heavy equipment operator, and nobody else. He says that no overweight tourists will be at the beach until about 11, and he wants to lift the cannery up off the ground before they get there. By the end of the day, my body and physics degree will both agree that the crane and I have each expended about the same amount of total energy. To which my liberal arts education replies, "but I have been across the sea."
WRSI Crystal Gorge
WRSI - I got the call the other day, "Chris, you have been in the Crystal Gorge before, right?" "Yea, let's go!" and that was that. Casey Tango, Taylor, Riley, and I pile in the truck and head over Independence Pass to one of the most infamous gorges in Colorado. Upon arriving at the Beaver Ponds in the small "town" of Marble, we are greeted by Ross Herr, Jakub Nemec, Mike Hagadorn, and Chris Stafford; we had a stout posse.

Richard at Point 65 - At the recent US trade show, Outdoor Retailer we put together 8 midsections and created a 41 foot, 12,5 meter Tequila! kayak for 9 paddlers. Is this a world record?
Indigenous Boats Maori War Canoes
Indigenous Boats - When we consider the boats of the Pacific islands, we tend to think only of monohulls: single and double outriggers, and double canoes. Small monohull dugouts were used throughout Polynesia for inshore work, but these were paddled, not sailed, and they rarely rise to the level of serious attention.
Nessmuking Paddling Weather Lore and Prediction
Nessmuking - Paddlers live at the mercy of the weather. On a calm day, we can paddle miles. On a stormy day, a strong headwind makes progress a crawl, and nothing is worse than lightning striking during a long crossing. Having simple tools to help predict the weather during a paddling trip helps with the decision making process. It can help answer the question, "To go or not to go?"
