Kokatat Blog Jason Craig On Upper Cherry Creek
Kokatat Blog - Kokatat Ambassador Jason Craig shares his experience on Upper Cherry Creek. "Recently I had the chance to paddle Upper Cherry Creek; which was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, and some of the best kayaking I have ever experienced." words by Jason Craig, photos by Darin McQuoid.
Gene17 Jakub's Norway Road Trip
Gene17 - This is Jakub's first year with Gene17. He's our new boy, a fabulous young talent out of the Czech Republic, who recently joined Rush Struges, Ben Brown & Steve Fisher in Norther Norway on a filming mission for Rush's 2011 Dream Ticket follow up production, Frontier. Below Jakub give us his take on a week working for Gene17 in Norway, on our recent Norway Road Trip.
Steve Brooks The Lower part of the Lech Gorges!
Steve Brooks - With our kayaks stashed from the previous days adventures it was a nice mellow walk down to the start of the lower Section. This Section of the Lech Gorges has some of the best whitewater in Austria. The action comes thick and fast with some cracking drops, boofs, slides and all set in one of of the most picturesque gorges!
Sweet New Sweet Gear in the Gorge
Sweet - After a nice time at OR show in Salt Lake City I made my way east to the land known as Colorado. With a gear bag full of new Sweet Gear I was ready to test some stuff out and look amazingly good while doing it! Staying in Gnarbondale with my good friend Fred Norquist we were fired up to go into the mountains and find some brown to run. Colorado is normally dry this time of year, but as you have seen in all of Jacub's updates there has been a lot of water in the state this year.
Ben Brown Adventure Profile
Ben Brown - This month Adventure Magazine ran a cover profile on me (Ben Brown). Check it out!
Kokatat Blog Tanya Faux checks in
Kokatat Blog - You know us pro kayakers sometime get the label of "no regard for rafters, we too love the river". I totally agree, rafters so do love the river. The river is our common love, the craft we choose to connect to the river doesn't matter. I recently had the pleasure of teaching and organizing guide school for 25 staff at the Outdoor Education Group.
Dagger Blogs Getting Unstuck -- Peel Outs and Eddy Turns On and Off the Water
Dagger Blogs - Eddy turns and peel outs are essential skills for whitewater kayaking. Catching eddies allows us more control because we can stop, scout, take a break and regroup. Peeling out of eddies allows us to re-enter the current in control and gives us time to set up for our next move.
LiquidLore Southern Ontario Classic
LiquidLore - While Toronto doesn't have any whitewater - well it doesn't have any that's yet been found - southern Ontario suprisingly has a pretty decent array of rivers for boating. There's river running, play boating and even some nice big park n huck waterfalls - remarkable really for a zone that's flat as a pancake when you drive through. The only downside is the cold weather - things often run during big thaws in the middle of the winter, and it goes right back to cold after the rains have fallen - the hearty lads down there don't seem to mind though!
Kokatat Blog Kayak Fishing the Heartlands of Canada
Kokatat Blog - Recently I was privileged to fish with a great group of guys in the north of our great country. We fished a large lake that expanded 85 miles long and 45 miles wide with our kayaks. The lake was known to hold some of the world's largest northern pike with some that reached 50 inches there, so it is safe to say that we were truly stoked about this chance to set some kayak fishing records.
SeaKayakPhoto.com Waiting for the ebb in the Corryvreckan
SeaKayakPhoto.com - We entered the great gulf of Corryvreckan just before slack water. There was no swell and we had never seen the SW of Scarba in such calm conditions.
