A Wet State (CA) Write-up: Upper Cherry Creek
A Wet State (CA) - I honestly don't know what I can say about this run that hasn't already been said. This run is arguably (easily) the most famous run in the world. A quick search on google will yield dozen's of blogs with a few pictures of the giant rapids, on youtube you will find videos of people sliding down Cherry Bomb into the grip of the gorge below. Hailed as one of most beautiful places you can see, along with the other High Sierra runs in California, this run should be at the top of ever class V-V+ boaters bucket list.
Sweet Eleven Mile Canyon
Sweet - Earlier this week we had to go to immigration doctor to get checked out before we apply for a permanent residence in the US. We found this beautiful canyon and it was a great way to split 2 hours drive and have some fun.
Chris Baer Cheeseman Canyon
Chris Baer - Driving into the Cheeseman Canyon is a little erie, the forest burnt to the ground only a few years back and as far as you can see it is burnt trees, baby aspens, and a lot of bed rock. The team, Mike Hagadorn, Casey Tango, Riley Frakes, Jeff Flora, Tom Dohdray, and myself; many of us had never boated together and it was going to be a testing adventure.
Jakub Nemec Black Canyon of the Gunnison
Jakub Nemec - All good here in Colorado. Summer is getting to the end, we got last full on week of work and then who knows what is gonna happen.
Gene17 Staff Profile – new boy Jakub Šedivý
Gene17 - I love to kayak since I got into a boat for the first time when I was 9 years old. Most of my best friends were hanging around the paddling scene and so it was almost natural to get into it. I used to race rafts for few years but the biggest turn was my high school exchange to NZ. Being able to paddle few times a week with better paddlers was a great opportunity, which I was very glad for. After coming back from NZ, I just tried to get on the river as much as possible.
Team Pyranha Sawadee Khrap – Thailand mission update no.1
Team Pyranha - Arriving in Bangkok we got our boats on the train and took the bus to Chiang Mai (It turned out to be the queen's birthday so no seats for us on the train!) Here we sorted ourselves a truck and hooked up with a local rafting company, Siam River Adventures, for a run down the Mae Taeng. Normally the whole 10km section is rafted with a steeper middle section providing some class 4 thrills for the clients… Lots of rain meant our first warm up river of the trip was at a slightly higher level with the rafts portaging the middle section. We decided to paddle it.
Palm Blogs Little gem in Scotland
Palm Blogs - It was whilst I was up in the North of Scotland doing a recce for a future expedition next year, and working that I came across this little gem of a trip for open boaters. It takes in a number of Highland Lochs and rivers as it winds its way down from the high ground heading east to sea level. It starts at Loch a Chroisg, Achnasheen some 40 miles west of Inverness, and ends at Connon Bridge just outside of Dingwall, which is on the Cromaty Firth.
USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint Worlds Day Three Recap
USA Canoe/Kayak - On another beautiful day in Poznan, the 200m races began with the most amount of fast times the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships has ever seen. Brothers Ryan and Patrick Dolan (Kailua, Hawaii) got Team USA off on the right foot, finishing 4th in their heat in the K-2 200m.
Tony Paradise Windy day paddle
Tony Paradise - The wind forecast for Saturday was east 20 knots. Get out the maps. We settled on a paddle from Portugal Cove to Bauline along a line of cliffs on the west side of Conception Bay. There we would be sheltered from the winds and we were for the most part. Bauline lay 11.5 kms north as we set out the same time as the ferry left for Bell Island.
