News Watch Amazon Update: Special PL Q&A with Amazon Expeditioner Rocky Contois Playak - It's been a helluva year for expedition kayaker Rocky Contois. First descents in Peru, the discovery of a possible new source of the Amazon, a race down the world's longest artery, a book coming out, a feature in Canoe & Kayak magazine, and more. We caught up with him during a brief moment out of his skirt for the low-down on his latest South American shenanigans... Playboater Troubleshooter Chris Wing - What were we thinking this time around when we approached a new topic with a similar approach to the Whitewater Troubleshooter? Firstly, I wanted to touch base on some key points that I felt once again were being left out of general kayak instruction, this time with the topic of play boating. I've been infected with it over the years, though my symptoms have definitely lessened after finally catching the elusive giant wave last year after a multi month effort. Still no kayak to be found. By lunch it's apparent that wherever the boat went at the base of Sahalie it's not coming out any time soon. One boat, one more waterfall. Koosah went well enough for me last year and I am content letting it be. Grady and Brody took 1st and 2nd in the Junior Men's Freestyle. Brody & Kady competed for the first time in SUP Cross and SUP Downriver. Alps & Werner Players Desperate Measures - Finally, the end of another year of university, and what better way to celebrate the end of exams (and compensate for missed sunshine) than a 2 week white water trip to the Alps?! We arrived at the campsite (we were based in Camping du Lac 'Les Iscles' in Eygliers) late afternoon Saturday 15th June after journey that lasted getting on for 24 hours total (I'm glad I wasn't driving- thanks guys!).
