Playak Independent Review: Predator VX360 Waterproof Actioncam
Playak (Tuesday 31st) ***** - ...I'm the kind of person who is happiest in the water and I love to share my adventures with family and friends through the video and photos that I take. So I decided to test out a waterproof camera to capture the action from a personal perspective. Over the last few months I've been able to get some exciting footage which was not possible before and test the camera in some tough conditions. Here is the result...
Wavesport Blogs How to Store Your Boats
Wavesport Blogs (Tuesday 31st) ***** - Don't you hate not knowing an efficient, easy way to store your boats? Tired of all the excess space they take up. Well, I have a solution for you! Don't worry this isn't some corny infomercial type of deal about some miracle product. It's just a simple storage solution that works. So, your hulls stay "unoil-canned" and your boat stays out of the way.
Dagger Blogs The Day of a Lifetime
Dagger Blogs (Saturday 28th) *** - Ever since I was a young boy growing up around here in western North Carolina with kayaking as the search, I've wondered right along side all my idols, if the Linville Falls was runnable.
Wavesport Blogs How To: Catch waves on the fly
Wavesport Blogs (Friday 27th) ** - On-the-fly-waves are the ones that you only get one chance per run to catch- waves that can not be caught from an eddy. One approach to catching an on-the-fly wave is to line up for it (in terms of left-right position), point dead upstream (like a salmon) and paddle like mad (like a mad-man). This often works, but in this post, I will detail a more nuanced approach to catching waves on-the-fly.
Sweet More Ashlu & HD Filming
Sweet (Wednesday 1st) ** - After a sick time on Tatlow creek and a few fun laps on the classic Upper Cheak, we were asked to go back to the Ashlu to film on one of the best HD cameras in the world. Bryan Smith and the Range Life Crew got their hands on a camera called the Phantom Gold, which shoots 1000 FPS, it makes throwing a tennis ball into the wall look absolutely amazing.
Atlantic Paddle Surfing Busy week with Lessons
Atlantic Paddle Surfing (Saturday 28th) ** - Steady week of lessons. Had some great folks being introduced to Stand Up Paddleboarding. All leave enlightened and with smiles on their faces. Makes me feel good that I made an impact with their moments of excitement from their experience standind on water.
Small World Adventures Grand Canyon 2010 Baby!
Small World Adventures (Monday 30th) ** - So, I've been out of the blogging scene for a few weeks after a slow down in river festivals and then our 2-week trip on the Grand, but we are back in action now. Going through all these photos has made me really appreciate what an incredible place the Grand Canyon is. Everyone who loves the outdoors, geology, history, and rivers should put this trip on their list!
Sweet Tatlow Creek Mission
Sweet (Monday 30th) ** - This year the road into the Upper Ashlu river has been almost destroyed…making for a very difficult mission to get into the Upper runs of the river or the tributaries that form the river. Tatlow is one of the most quality creeks in the world and after hearing about the epic road problems, we were a little put off by the 5 mile hike in to get on this one.
Wavesport Blogs Gore Canyon at 4g: Remembering the Colorado high water
Wavesport Blogs (Monday 30th) ** - I hadn't paddled Gore Canyon before. Somehow I had always missed it or just been paddling other things when I was in Colorado. But as the water climbed out of the banks at the Teva Mtn Games and the race was canceled, it was finally time.
Level 6 The Irish man finally makes it too Lachine
Level 6 (Sunday 29th) ** - Lachine located on the St Laurence, only a short drive from Montreal's downtown, is one of the best waves I have ever surfed. However, not really knowing where we were going, it took a little longer than usual to get there. Montreal being a big city, it took us a while to find our friends house, who turned out not to be there. So we ventured to the car park by Lachine.
Sweet 50/50 & Ashlu
Sweet (Saturday 28th) ** - After a massive drive up north through Cali, Oregon, and Washington we finally arrived in BC. With luck it was the weekend and the now dammed Box Canyon of the Ashlu was running a planed release. Fred and I met up with a local crew to run one of the most beautiful quality river in the world.
Palm Blogs More fun in the Amp Vest!
Palm Blogs (Tuesday 31st) ** - I seriously cannot say enough about the new Amp Vest! I have been paddling with it almost everyday for the past three months and it is without question the best lifejacket I have ever used in 20 years of paddling! It was going to take something pretty special to get me to upgrade from my beloved Mango Axis PFD and the crew at Palm have done it with the Amp.
Double 2D Dan & Ted's Excellent Adventures
Double 2D (Sunday 29th) ** - Kayaking footage from 2010. Filmed in Norway, Corsica, Italy, Switzerland, France, Sweden and the USA!
Fraser Valley WW Coquhihalla Canyon and Hayes Creek Video
Fraser Valley WW (Wednesday 1st) ** - Some video we shot this spring on what we are pretty sure was the first descent by a raft of the Coquihalla Canyon below Othello Tunnels into Hope. If you haven't checked this run out it's scenic and well worth it. Here is the trip report and pictures from the trip.
Team Pyranha Easter Egg Hunting in Nepal
Team Pyranha (Wednesday 1st) ** - With what seemed like a thousand taxis touting for our business, arrival into Kathmandu airport truly signified the start of the adventure. Having been to a few far flung destinations dragging my kayak along previously, it was music to my ears.
